I stated that time and time again it's defensive fighters that trouble Sergio. Barker and Macklin both fought defensively against Sergio and got roughed up as soon as they forgot to do so.

I can't see Golovkin fighting defensively in any way.
i think you're being blinded by what you would like to see rather than facts if u think martinez ko's ggg then I'll be happy to bet against u as I'm sure 99% of this forum would.

After looking at how Martinez struggled in his last fight I don't see how he can beat Golovkin at this point. Make the fight so Martinez can pass the torch of the legitimate middleweight champion to GGG. But if Sergio still has one or two great fights left in him then I'll kick back and enjoy the show.

Martinez at 60% beats Golovkin and looks good doing it. Bet your houses on that!

You're drunk. Martinez is on his way out and went down three times in his last three fights. He barely got past his last opponent and the fight before that almost got stopped by Chavez Jr. in the last round. Golovkin would spank Martinez and finish him.

what do you mean almost got stopped? you say it as if chavez managed to do anything in the previous 11 and a half rounds. it was a virtual shut out. chavez only managed to damage martinez when martinez broke his hand and couldn't use a two fisted attack AND damaged his knee.

A few years ago this is what I would've said. Going off Martinez' recent form I'm not so sure. I'm still not fully sold on GGG, think he made a lot of mistakes on Saturday that Sergio would make him pay for. At this stage in their careers, I think the momentum is with Golovkin although I'm not as confident with that pick as most people on here seem to be. He didn't look great to me this weekend, against someone who was seemingly a step down from Macklin.

The way that Stevens fought, he'd make Martinez look bad too

But, he no longer has to fight 2 fights in the ring. I'm going with the lineal champ, the proven fighter.
Surgeries fix injuries and but it's not guaranteed that you will recover 100% from them you ******. Especially at 40 years old. Jesus.

Did Martinez's knee look 100% to you his last fight? Did you fail to see how he struggled to get up?

It's all a question of how physically fit Martinez is going into the fight. Reading what most have written here and it's a good cross section of boxing fans, we all believe Martinez has the skill, the will and the technical brilliance to beat Golovkin but does he still have the physical strength?

We will have to wait and see.
