If it's the version that turned up against Chavez Jr, I'd favour Martinez on points quite comfortably.
Why does every fight have to be a different "version" of Martinez?

He fought against two different styles. Of course he looked great against a face first brawler like Chavez Jr. He looked bad against Murray because of Murray's defensive style and tactics. Are people also forgetting that Barker and Macklin fought on terms with him and exposed flaws in his game? What "version" was that?

As far as GGG goes, I think its a fight where Sergio can potentially look fantastic because Golovkin's defence is leaky - he gets hit.

I read on here that Canelo's team wants no part of Martinez but that is not so. Canelo has been asking for a fight with Martinez at 154 pounds for well over a year now. Mayweather did a number on Canelo but that does not mean Martinez or Cotto beats Canelo. I think Canelo can beat them at 154. Canelo beat Trout so I don't think of him as a hype job. Hype jobs don't beat fighters of Trout's quality.

I'm not talking about style of fightings when i meant 'versions'....Martinez looked weak in the Murray fight, he looked completely gassed from round 5 & clearly wasn't moving around the ring the same after the knee surgery. Thats why we'll see if he was either unfit & on the down side of his career in his next fight against whoever it is.

Yeah he looked bad because Murray made him look bad.

GGG walks Martinez down and STOPS HIM

Martinez is not getting any young the man is close to 40 and trying to come back from A FEW INJURIES according to his Promoter DiBella

If Martinez can turn back the clock a little and fight like he did against Paul Williams and Pavlik than maybe he could pull it off but I don't see him returning to that form because again...HE IS CLOSER TO 40 NOW!

I llike both fighters, and i still believe Martinez is a top fighter. I'd slightly favour Golovkin though.

That's what we have surgery for, to fix whatever it is that is stopping us physically. If Sergio didn't get the surgery, I would say he losses because his leg wouldn't hold up. But, he no longer has to fight 2 fights in the ring. I'm going with the lineal champ, the proven fighter.

Based on Martinez' last fight, I'm picking GGG to walk him down and retire him. Prime for prime there is no doubt in my mind that Maravilla would beat him but he's clearly on the decline and 2 knee surgeries and hand fractures in consecutive years just confirms that.
