So lets say they do risk their own health, career, and longevity by fighting like a drunken idiots throwing wild punches, then what? Yall still wouldn't like them and you know how I know that? Timothy fuckin Bradley. That's why. Even after going to war with Ruslan P, he still gets shitted on by yall after schooling, shuting out and almost knocking out Marquez, he still had very minimal fans in attendance, he still didnt get rocognition or even praise when Ruslan went on to beat Alvarado. Infact no one even mentioned Bradley's name after Ruslan beat Alarado.

Yall just want them to fight "exciting" so they can lose.
Dude, back when Floyd was putting real hurt on ppl, Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley were complaining and laughing as well that he couldn't put "asses" in the seat. Roy was entertaining as hell and yet no one was clamouring to his fights. The fact is, ppl's claim to them being boring is that they're hard to beat.

When ppl are running out of imaginary oppositions, the "boring" thing is the last straw. Infact, it is not up to them to make an exciting fight, it rather takes two to tango, so the opponents should be blame, but we already know what's up.

So people actually want to watch them?

Why do "yall" always talk about money and who's a draw as excuses why fighters can't fight a guy, then "yall" turn around and say winning is all that matters? "Yall" talk about not watching "face first brawlers" because it doesn't entertain you, but "yall" get mad when people say the same about defensive fighters.

        Which is it, "yall?"

Rigo is more entertaining than Hopkins or Ward IMO.

But entertaining shouldn't be put ahead of winning. If a brawler doesn't take the time to perfect his craft and gets out boxed in a boxing match he shouldn't get a chance at a bigger fight ahead of the guy who won.

The fact rios got the manny fight instead of alvarado, the notion that ruslan should fight JMM or the loser of manny/rios and not the winner, the notion that khan would get floyd before danny garcia or cotto would get a title shot ahead of Trout should be something all of us are against.

I'm all for fighters making money but it should be based on winning.

Floyd and Hopkins don't need to do ****. Floyd is the highest paid athlete in the world and B-Hop is a millionaire and generated huge ratings for HBO.

Ward had 1.3 million viewers with Dawson and will likely do similar numbers with Rodriguez. And he's getting $2.3 million for what is basically a glorified tuneup.

Bradley made the mistake of fighting like an idiot against Ruslan but he bounced back. If anything, he learned that he has 2 choices: 1) fight smart, win and get booed or 2) take a beating in a "fan-friendly" fight, win and get booed. I hope he sticks to option #1. He's made $12 million since signing with Top Rank.

Rigo and Lara have language barriers and lack support from the Cuban fanbase. But Rigo's $750,000 purse isn't to shabby for a 122 pound fighter. I'm sure a guy Anselmo Moreno would jump at that opportunity any day.

So the way I see it, there is not a single fighter in the sport of boxing that needs to change their style. The elite fighters called "boring" generate big ratings and are millionaires.

The truth about Rigo, is that he's entertaining, but in today's sport, you also need a little physical appearance. Rigo is a small dude, speaks no english, cool deameanor, and face wise, not very attractive.

Rigo will only appeal to us, who are avid boxing fans; to the outside world, he will be a challenge to market. I have a feeling this is what Arum is alluding to by using less words.

However, Arum should view this for what it is: a challenge, and go on to do his job, and if he can't, just let him go to another promoter.

The same reason why the San Antonio Spurs have one of the lowest rated finals every time they play in it with the exception of last year because they were playing the heat. The Spurs play fundamental basketball and as a huge basketball junkie I really love watching them play. But their slow it down style is not crowd pleasing and they are asking your entertainment dollar.
Rigo is a skilled tactitian, but when your asking people to pay huge ticket prices or buy PPV at $50-60 a pop people are going to want to actually be entertained.
