Why should Rigo, BHOP, Ward, Floyd or any slick fighter fight "more entertaining"?

All this "slick boxers are boring" and "people pay for entertainment" are nonsense. Why "SO YOU WANNA FIGHT?" Is not selling millions on ppv if ppl want so see brawlers? Many of the ringside seats are given out to family, Friends and celebrities for free. Many people pay for the experience and the occasion. The entire experience in itself is entertainment..a good fight is bonus.

The answer is nobody should tell fighters how to fight but their trainers/coaches.

However, each boxer has to take what comes with it. If you don't draw people in with how you fight, find another hook (like Mayweather did). If how you fight appeals to the wider audience, then it's your health and career, do what you do.

Those that sit back in their tidy whities believing they could do better should lace 'em up or have respect for those that do. Vote with your wallet or step through the ropes yourself.
      Perfect response

Shouldn't let people you don't actually know get you worked up like that......

People that say a slick boxer is borring, is the same type of person that say the lions in the zoo are borring because the dont run around and roar and kill all the time.
(in africa the have a huge problem with american turist that demand action and carnage when the go on a safari, so the started to throw meat out for the lions, the problem is that now the lions associated people with meat and there have been a big increase of africans people being eaten)

What the casual fan dont understandis that the style you fight, is to a large degree not something you chose, its who you are, you can only refine.

Look at pro fighters when the were ametures, the fought the same damm way, the have only refined there style

If mayweather were suppose to fight in another style, he would get knocked down in one round.

            STyles= differences between people

In other words **** them the are spoiled, unrefined, egocentric asshols, that should never be taken seriously

And Bob arum this one is for you, :****you:

If you ask me BHop and Floyd are entertaining to watch more often then not. Most Hopkins haters never watched his early fights.

Ward is more hit or miss.

Like any fan I like a good slugfest every now and again, but I don't think every fighter should be expected to throw caution to the wind. Most posters are in favor of the brawling style because they don't have a vested interest in a boxer utilizing that particular style. Chances are these same fans won't be there to help him deal with the aftermath once his career is over.

If your kid started boxing which style would you want them to learn, boxer or brawler? I've been to a couple of gyms in my life and interacted with several former pro's that took too much punishment so the answer is simple for me.

They shouldn't. These fighters are entertaining to some fans although casual fans wont appreciate slick fighters.

Is that not the beauty of boxing though? To see how different styles mesh?

Sure, its fun watching fighters slug it out but IMO its always better to see the classic brawler against boxer. Or power puncher vs speed puncher. The defensive wizard against the offensive body puncher. The list goes on.

If we just had 'entertaining' fights then boxing would actually be pretty boring.
