Cotto was the superior fighter back then as well.

Pacquiao had just beating Hatton at light-welter, he is under no obligation to fight Mosley or Cotto at 147lbs.

In January 2009 the top 4 fighter at welterweight rated by Ring Magazine were Margarito, Cotto, Mosley and Clottey.

Pacquiao would go on a defeat all 4 of these in a 18 month period after moving to welterweight.
Ah yes he wouldn't fight Mosley at 147 because he's "too good".

Mosley can't make 145 that's the difference and they offered him 142.

Yes, that was 2009 though and things change during that period.

Like I said, your bias is ridiculous.

Ducking is a funny thing, this guy on here said Floyd not fighting Pwill was a duck but Manny not fighting Raheem wasn't, so people use it as a popularity contest.
I'm so tired of hearing this, about these two:

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

Ellerbe said Mayweather opted for the buyout so he could be "more in control of when and who he fights next. It's as simple as that. There is nothing bad between Floyd and Bob."

Arum agreed that the split with Mayweather was not on bad terms like their brief breakup last year. In fact, Arum said, "We intend to be back together. Everything with this was honorable and good. I had offered him numbers [for a multi-fight contract extension] that were livable. His expectations are in the stratosphere. He was entitled to buy me out, and he did. We decided this was the best way to handle it. He is a free agent. We have agreed to work with each other [in the future]."

The split frees Mayweather to make a potential deal with De La Hoya without Arum as part of the promotion. His involvement would have made making a deal almost impossible: The head of Top Rank has openly feuded with De La Hoya, his former superstar, and their companies rarely do business together as a result.

Arum said he was simply not interested in participating in a De La Hoya-Mayweather fight, but not because of his distaste for De La Hoya.

"I don't want to, because if I did that fight, I would be working for such a small percentage, it's not worth it," he said.

Also here is a interview with Bob Arum in 2005 and he is talking about Cotto needing to be built up more....yeah Floyd ducked him(SMH)

According to Mayweather, the fight was supposed to take place after the Henry Bruseles fight whom he took apart in eight rounds. Bruseles was a “test” fight to see how Mayweather would fare against Cotto. It is also note worthy that Cotto was Bruseles’s lead sparring partner.

As for Pacquaio, sure Floyd played his part well. I think Pacquaio wasn't too keen either if I'm honest. Both were happy no fighting each other and making a lot of money.
floyd moved up to lightweight to fight Castillo, a way better opponent, I'm not gona blame him for so called ducking an almost nobody in Johnston. Maybe this is your way of making Floyd's future opponents seem better? I dunno why you're so strung up on him ducking Stevie yet you can't bring up the fact that he ducked Pac, prime Cotto, a younger Mosley, Kostya etc. You think those excuses are better than not fighting SJ??

And ye, I think Manny was for his part, slightly unsure of the Floyd match up when he first moved up to 147 but after Oscar he was all up for it. He veen agreed to the drug testing, which is something Floydsuckers continuously bring up. Then Manny tried resolving the issue of the money split, he said who ever wins the fight gets the bigger purse...Floyd turned that down too.

Still to this day, and it is quite amazing really, Floyd Mayweather, the p4p number 1, the supposed greatest defensive fighter ever, the self proclaimed GOAT, still claims Manny has to agree to to the drug tests for the fight to be made (it was agreed to at least 2 years ago) and his lackies repeat the same crap. I just don't get it. Manny has agreed to the biggest demand out there at the time, he has spoken about the bigger half of the purse going to the victor. He has openly said he wants the fight. What's stopping Floyd? Even after Manny got KOd by Hulkuez, Floyd is still too shook for his health and is willing to fight Guerrero and Canelo

        What a great warrior

The difference is Johnston is a fight he turned down. Only other fight that was offered to him and he turned down was Margarito.

Johnston made sense at that time, he turned it down for whatever reason. Maybe too much risk too low reward. Who knows.

I'm not going to dismiss it just because he fought Castillo at a later date in the near future. He didn't chose Castillo over Johnston.

He didn't duck Kosta Tszyu though like I touched on earlier. Tell me when the Mayweather-Tszyu fight was supposed to happen and how it was going to happen with the network dispute? Even without the network dispute it wouldn't have happened with the timing and Tszyu's injuries.

Another similar situation happened with Freitas with the network dispute. Do you think he ducked him also?

Not even going to touch on Mosley again. Doesn't even need to be touched on.

As for Pacquaio, I have to disagree with you on that one atleast for the first negotiation after the Cotto fight. After all, the sole reason that fight fell through was because Pacquaio walked away from the table due to the dispute over testing.

Later they both didn't pull their weight to make the fight. I don't believe either overly wanted it personally.

            • What more evidence do you people need?
The man who calls himself "Money" Mayweather
ducked the biggest fight of this generation.
It's been a consistent pattern for him.

You gotta be an idiot not to see it.

                Ok mate that's fine.

I was willing to have a civil discussion about it because I think you're a good poster but it seems you aren't willing to.
