Great! An undefeated up and coming fighter vs a straight up bum with just 1 more ko then Paulie Malignaggi.

Well that supposed "bum" took Povetkin the distance less than 3 years ago while he was ranked 3rd by The Ring. He also stopped Tony Grano who until recently was ranked 5th by the WBC. What most of you keep overlooking is that guys who take fights on short notice have more losses because of less time to prepare. Now I don't think Firtha is anything great, but he's a tough solid fighter. Maybe he gets Wilder rounds, maybe he doesn't. But for a fighter with so little experience this isn't as bad as many of you are making it out to be.

just because a fighter can go rounds doesn't mean he's gonna go rounds against wilder...think about it, the guy's been stopped more than once, obviously offers little power....even if he does take wilder into later rounds, that doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna give wilder good work...there has been plenty of fights where a fighter won, but he didn't get better

its obvious that this guy's an opponent, he prolly brings very little to the table to offer, has been KOed 4 times, and he's not gonna make wilder get better

wilder needs to step up and face some quality opposition, he's not gonna get better fighting nobodies, he needs to fight some top 10's

yeah, i think it was an ifilmlondon interview (on youtube after the harrison win), but i do remember him saying he wanted to get to 30-0 with 30 KOs like it was his main goal. he'll get there for sure against guys like this. overall, this is a really weak card gbp is putting up.

With all due respect, you don't sound like you know how a fighter should be brought along. You also seem to give passes to Povetkin, Fury, Grano and Banks, all who had more amateur experience before turning pro. And as I've already said, taking fights on short notice and losing doesn't mean you lack talent or skills, but it does mean you didn't have the proper time to train. Im no expert on Firtha, but seeing the comments here neither are most others.

Look at it this way.....most want to see a big step up because of the hype they hear day in and day out. Wilders team isn't about the hype but about getting him experience, and keep him winning and getting paid until they are fully confident about him taking a bigger leap. Obviously they know more than most of his detractors or everyone here would have a fighter with national tv exposure, making money and being ridiculed by people who don't even know the business, right?

That's really not a tough one to figure out now.

                      No.

We're talking about the guy that had Fury stumbling around on bambi legs for an entire round. The guy that Fury needed a gift stoppage against right in the middle of a competitive back n forth fight.

                      THAT GUY.
