Guinn, Firtha??? PUUUULEEEZE. This is pure crap! None of those guys are even in the top 20. I doubt even the top 50. He should be fighting a top 10 by now.

That's exactly it, he wanted the KO record before facing anyone with anything remotely resembling a pulse.

That's why he turned down Chisora. He knew even if he won, he had little chance to blast him out and win by KO/TKO.

That said... They're trying to take baby steps with Wilder because they aren't sure if he's ready for the step up. The kid still needs experience before he finds himself going deep into a fight against an opponent that's having success.

        1) He hasn't gone past 4 rounds so he hasn't proven that he's ready for 10-12 rounds; let alone competitive rounds, where he's getting hit in return.
        2) He hasn't been in a competitive fight so you don't know who to match him up against (Can he handle a good shot? How does he take pressure? How does he handle speed? etc.)

David Price had a similar career going, until he stepped up against a top 10-15 Heavyweight that saw him get stopped twice; the same happened to Seth Mitchell (in hind sight these fighters might have never been ready for the top of the division, which is till an unknown for Wilder). The fact is, if you're part of his management, rushing him into situations he isn't prepared for is a mistake you don't want to make.

Also, you have to take into account, there might not be too many Heavyweights better than Firtha that want to fight a fully prepared Wilder (that's been training and sparring with Haye no less) on short notice.

I understand why they're doing it, but if this fight wasn't on the Hopkins/Quillin Doubleheader. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it. Since it is, I'll watch it to see how he's developing
        This ^^^^

Anyone in the top 10 stops him.

Should give wilder some rounds but after the liakhovich fight you never know. I wanted guinn next but firtha was my next choice... He will step up...
Guinn would definitely be a good choice for his next opponent; he can give Wilder the rounds he needs to move on to the next level. If he gets Firtha out of there too quick, they might look at stepping him up to the top 20 level though. If they don't, Guinn, Travis Walker, Pajkic, or Toney might be good choices of opponents.

I'm going to laugh is Milder gets stopped and or/beaten in any way.

Deontay should have waited to fight until December, but at least he could have had a big opponent by then.

              Chisora maybe.

He already proved there's no way he's fighting Chisora without a title on the line. No way, no how.

                Wilder: "I will face anyone".

Chisora: "Bring it on to England, here's the contract".

Wilder: "I have visa problems, can't come there".

                Chisora: "WTF???"

Haye: "Hey, Deyontay, I need sparring partners in England for the Fury fight"

                Wilder: "Be right over".

                Chisora: "WTF???"

Leave it to Joe to give us a good scouting report on this guy. I think Firtha's an OK opponent; he's a step up from some of the bums Wilder has been facing.

I do agree with that. You need to put Wilder in with someone that will give him some rounds. You won't know how he will fair after 4 rounds because you have never seen him in after 4.
