I certainly don't think this is a winnable fight for Hopkins at this stage (maybe at any stage). Although, if anyone were to perform well at a catch-weight, even though 160 isn't exactly a catch-weight, it would probably be him. Remember that Hopkins came in at 156 when he fought Oscar when the agreed upon limit was 158. With Trinidad, Hopkins came in at 157, I believe.

I'm not ready to write off Sergio just yet. He could be done, but most--actually all--people don't know this at all for sure.

GGG is unfortunately too unknown for Floyd to ever fight him so. like I said, it will take some time but he will have his time.

Just judging by how he looked in his last fight and the fact that he's not getting younger, knees aren't getting better and injuries could probably only get worse- I think his chances against fresh Golovkin are slim. You are right though, never write off the heart of a champ. Unfortunately I don't think Martinez body is on par with his heart at this moment.

I've never liked that "this guy is too unknown" arguement. With Golovkin, at the least every hardcore fan knows who he is.. And with that being said, he could have nevver even been on HBO and could have spent his whole career to this day in Kazakhstan, and that still wouldn't change the fact that he is as talented as he is and that he is a big challenge to Floyd. HBO is only giving Golovkin exposure, they're not making him into a good fighter. He is a good fighter, period. And if someone was to say the hardcore fans know him, but the casuals don't and that wouldnt make sense for Floyd....... keep in mind, as much as casuals dont know who Golovkin is, they don't know who Martinez is, nor did they know who Victor Ortiz was.


As I've said- Martinez is the lineal champ without a doubt. But "on paper" doesn't tell the full story between Golovkin-Floyd-Martinez. I respect your opinion though, can't blame anyone for wanting Floyd to take Martinez' MW throne. I just think Golovkin IS that guy who's ready to step up and be THE guy at 160. Like you said, his time will come, I suppose.

Until sergio loses he is the best MW in the world. You can argue he got a gift last fight but that dosn't make GGG better. I can respect what you think GGG may do but hat isn't enough. The fact remains there is a fighter at 160 better than GGG.

My big point from the beginning was- if someone thinks Floyd should fight the legend B-Hop or Sergio at 160..... I don't see how they could justify Floyd not fighting Golovkin. The unknown name thing doesn't make sense, because who the hell is Victor Ortiz?

If he's going to fight at MW-it makes sense to fight the lineal champ. The Bhop thing is not something I want but I can understand the concept. If you are ok with GGG floyd than you have to be ok with Quillin floyd.

And Hopkins is a LHW. I understand Martinez is the lineal champ. If Golovkin and Martinez fought next year and Golovkin beat Martinez and became lineal champ. Would you still want Floyd to fight the "lineal MW champ" Golovkin? Or do you just want Floyd to fight the lineal MW champ Martinez at the moment because you see the same weakness/flaw I see (age, health, etc) and you think he's easy picking/easy title for Floyd? Be honest.

if Floyd was willing to fight Golovkin, i have no problem with him fighting Quillin. IF he was to fight Quillin, i dont wanna hear **** about Golovkin being too unknown or any of that nonsense from Floyd extremists.

I agree with this 100%. PPV draw means absolutely nothing in relation to who deserves what and talent/skill level.

Floyd could fight Carlos Molina and it will sell out because Molina will have a large number of Mexicans who will buy the PPV no matter what. That doesn't make it a good fight, nor does it mean Molina deserves the shot

I Officially want Floyd to move up to 160. Why not. All he has to do is weigh in above 154 to fight in that division. I like the idea of a Hopkins showdown, and why'll we're at it, let him take Sergio's and GGG's belts while he's up there too. He's got the skill to do it, he's got nothing left to prove from 154 on down, what the hell, I'm all for Floyd becoming the new Middleweight King and putting a huge stamp on his legacy and strengthening his case for the #1 spot of all time.
