Saying any modern fighter beats Floyd is a pipe dream on here

I have to agree. Couple that with Floyd's bad feelings for Arum, and Cotto would get schooled big time.

Floyd "retired" in 2007 cuz he needed a break from the sport.

Victor Ortiz and Robert Guerrero are just as good as the top welterweights in 2007 anyway.

Yeah and Cotto committing to a two fight deal against Gomez & Maragrito before Floyd beat Hatton shows me he was waiting for Floyd

He fought both of these fights while Floyd was "retired". What are you talking about?

I think the fight plays out very similarly to how it went last May. Cotto drops a decision by a clear margin, But puts forth a respectable effort. Cotto has the tools to trouble Mayweather (powerful jab, applies educated pressure, has a committed body attack etc.) But doesn't have the ability to apply those tools consistently over the course of 12 against a boxer like Mayweather.

Both guys were alot fresher & sharper in 07/08. But being that Floyd was much more fleeter of foot back then than he was in 2012, i think Cotto would find it alot harder to track down Mayweather and land meaningful blows on a consistent basis. He would have his moments though.

There were more scores among press row that were WIDE for Mayweather, than there were that had it by the margins you listed.
