  • Is this a serious question? The poll results are a joke. Floyd! Common now. Floyd is the best of his generation. Manny and Marquez are more comparable.

They're not really comparable, Pac's resume is way deeper than Marquez. JMM's hinges on Pac too much

But the manner of victory is always important in evaluating a fight. If Pacquiao narrowly scored a decision against two versions of Morales which weren't Morales at his very peak then that would be greatly disvalued. However Pacquiao knocked him out twice and gave him a bit of a beating. The Morales of the 2nd fight was still a very high quality version of Morales that few if any would have beaten in that manner. Even the third version of Morales that Pacquiao fought is unlikely to have been smashed to bits like that against other super featherweights. Talk of all time great and such like often distorts such evaluations. That is also true with regard to the ways people denigrate Mayweather's record.

So why does Pacquiao have a better resume than floyd and why was Pacquiao named fighter of the decade by BWAA and Ring Magazine and not floyd?

We disagree. Raheem lacked great power 19 kos in 32 wins. So it would be unlikely he'd win by KO. If Raheem had power, He may have KO'd Morales in the 10th. This fight wasn't even close.

every fighter has demarcation lines in their careers. Morales is Raheem. For you to argue Morales was "high quality" in the 2nd fight, coming off a loss like and getting back down to SFW,that flies in the face of reality. A high quality fighter almost never loses a tuneup like that.

The 3rd fight he is coming off a the raheem loss and a ko loss to manny and had to get down to SFW again. THis is just not the same fighter that beat Manny.

its a paper award man. In the ring it means nothing. So yall think Floyd can buy USADA the biggest testing agency in US, judges, the Ring ratings to get opponents but dont think Arum can sway writers to vote for Pac for this paper award. I just saw that now ring mag is legit but when it was robbery of the year it wasnt?

Raheem's lack of power is hardly Pacquiao's fault though, Pacquiao won a hell of a lot more impressively. He was certainly still a high quality version of Morales in the 2nd fight, it most definitely does not fly in the face of reality. Many fighters historically have lost fights like that particularly with stylistic reasons and fighting in a foreign country against that countries very own countryman. I forget whether I thought it was as wide for Raheem as you suggest but I'll concede that for the sake of argument as I cannot remember.

Your claims seem to suggest that you think Morales was better than Pacquiao, do you actually think that?

Roy Jones got fighter of the decade in the 90s, most people would have Holyfield and Lewis over him now. Pacquiao was the poster boy at the time the award was given like Roy Jones.
