My take on Mayweather is that he is a great boxer but hardly could be considered in the best 15 ATG list. I agree with many that criticize his opposition because of the timing to fight them. A good example is his next fight against Alvarez since even his very loyal fans as well as Floyd's team have already stated that Canelo is very young and inexperienced (and he truly is). And to make things worst Floyd requested a catch weight while he could have fought Saul at full weight as he did in the past against Oscar and Cotto (Floyd is already discrediting his very likely win with his ****** unnecessary request). He also played ****** every time he announced retirement and with this lack of activity he was hurting his own career and legacy (fighting every 18 months gave more to speak of his miserable behavior including scandals, jail time for hitting his partner, his obnoxious diva attitude, his own self-praising and or course the annoying commentary of his relatives. Yes, Floyd has been the inspiration of others and specially of other disrespectful morons such as Adrien Broner that rather than raising the good public perception for boxing are doing the opposite taking away even the credibility of the sport. There is so much talking and little activity inside the ring that is hard to swalow that Floyd is what his workshipers claim he is.

You can't lose your 0 if you don't risk it.

To be fair, I use to love Floyd pre JLC. This boy was beautiful to watch especially when he was fighting fighters like Hernandez, Corrales, and JLC. And then came JLC and all of a sudden the most important thing to him became the "0". I stopped being a fan right then and there. He fought Bredahl ffs.

Floyd beats people so bad he makes them seem like they aren't any good and people want to buy into that because they don't like him to begin with. And he knows it and wants them to want him to lose because it puts their butts in seats and brings the money. What's frustrating is that the people who are supposed to be boxing experts buy into it too when they know what he's been doing is incredible and they put down his opposition too-even though they know better. Even though they know they're top names getting made to look ordinary. He should get more credit from people who aren't supposed to be biased no matter what trash he talks or how bad he makes somebody look.

Trout beats Cotto and hes all of sudden considered Elite. I don't get it
yes, that is a sad side of "being" floyd.....

it is in the way he fights and beat his opponents....

to some, his skills so great he made it look too easy and one-sided....

to most, his fights were a snooze fest....not much excitement....

floyd has to learn to live and be happy with what he already got....

or try to re-invent himself even at this stage of his career....

a little "dash" of pac in floyd might be worth trying.....

                2) becoming more experienced and moving into their prime
                2) a seasoned veteran sloping downward in terms of their physical attributes

Canelo is clearly still in category #1 (despite his 42 fights, he is only 23, and almost all of his fights have not been against top competition)

When Mayweather fought Mosley and Cotto (for example), they were both clearly in category #3.

Floyd doesn't seem to understand the above reality. What people have criticized him for (and perhaps with some justification -- I don't know all the ins & outs and politics behind the scenes) is that he hasn't fought more top-tier opponents in category #2. Instead he tries to spin his resume as though the different categories didn't exist. ........ But they do, Floyd.
I think Alvarez already reached category 2 after his win over Trout.
Alvarez really is a high caliber opponent, i take my hat off if Mayweather beats him. I wont even blame mayweather or make fun about him if he loses. That Alvarez-guy is one serious fighter-kid and much bigger than Floyd.

Dude wtf are u talking about? Floyd fought Cotto after manny did. Floyd fought Mosley afte a long lay off. It's all about timing dude not who u fought but when u fought them. To me Floyd gets credit for Hatton de la Hoya and Ortiz and that's it

Uh no. Floyd cherry picks his opponents that's what makes him who he is. It's not that he didn't fight a certain fighter it's the time when he chose to fight them period.

Floyd a 2 times champ at 154 and said he will never demand at catchweight fight. Now that he demanded a catchweight fight to a fellow champ at 154, he is whining why people don't give him credit. LMAO! Floyd you are very lucky you still have the floydiots giving you all the credits in this world even if you **** their grandma, mother, daughter and their sisters.
