Ppl dont think joe was that good. Simple! And his fans think he's an ATG because he never lost. I put guys with multiple loses ahead of him.

        whats the deal then?
While the big boys fought for the 3 world titles in north America he stayed fighting european level fighters with the WBO title that wasn't even recognized... Up until 2004 the WBO was a stepping stone belt to the big 3. Look at every weight class on boxingrec & see how many fighters are from north america compared to europe... In the 90s & early 2000s the money & prestige was in the states. Yes he did well in europe but that's it. Kessler was his signature win & the rest were pretty irrelevant including his wins over hopkins & roy jones. He should have crossed the sea 10 years prior but he chose home cooking. He had a solid career but is relatively unknown in north america so he will never get thè respect.

Webler put it best. Some people think since he beat Hopkins and jones that he ranks higher. When in all actuality he's about 3 levels below them. No, I'm not a hater. I liked Joe, but rjj and lacy were not great wins. Kessler was an ok win and Hopkins was a good w. To me he's like Chris John, overrated but protected so much that he's underrated.

I would say Lacy was a great win in the aspect of it showed up a highly over pimped Super Middleweight in Jeff Lacy. Calzaghe did what he should have done. Slapped the hell out of him.

I wouldn 't say its sour g****s as i've been watching boxing for 25 yeàrs & before the internet the only thing i ever heard about calzaghe & ottke were in the ring magazine or the imported magazine i got from england. As i said before nobody cared about the WBO title. Most wbo belt holders vacated to get a title shot at the big 3. Back in the day the WBO wouldn't allow their champions to unify so most vacated for a bigger payday & more prestigous titles in the states. Cazaghe & ottke didn't want to risk their big home paydays by vacating the WBO belt. Can't blame them but their records are bloated... How many of calzaghe's title defences were against top contenders ranked by the WBC, WBA & IBF?

chad dawson was the best light heavyweight in the world at the time. Hopkins was just the biggest name in the division at the time. that's why Hopkins ducked dawson for all those years
