joe fought a whole load of bums for years and pissed on his welsh fans by doing so but its unfair to diss the Kessler victory, it was a good win by any measure and a real rollercoaster fight.
in retrospect probs his resume is better if he hadn't fought old bhop and jones because those fights look like his worst ever cherrypicks.
I don't care about boxing politics, or how much Hopkins deserved/expected to be paid. I honestly have no idea. I'd probably consider to fight Wladimir Klitschko for that kind of money
That said, Calzaghe did not fight that version of Hopkins, he cannot be given credit for something he did not do, whatever the reason.
Calzaghe beat Hopkins when he was 43, and it was a close decision. That is what I give him credit for.
It would have been Hopkins' highest purse to date.
Calzaghe was 36. Age is a number and Hopkins was the best light-heavyweight in the world at the time and is still in the top 2 or 3 today.
there are some exceptions of course but in general the rest of the world dont look at calzaghe the way you brits do. now that i think about it you brits seem to overrate all your fighters, be it calzaghe, haye, hatton or khan. i mean all countries tend to do that but brits do it more than anyone else.
calzaghe was a good fighter but he is no legend. his resume is just too weak.
even if we pretend he deserves the decision against hopkins who else is there? an unmotivated, past prime eubank? a completely shot RJJ? the highly average kessler? look at lacy.. he is a bum who never beat anyone and got outclassed by every quality fighter he ever fought yet these brits keep pretending its an impressive win for some reason.
joe is overrated, maybe the most overrated fighter ever.

From the guy who said that Deontay Wilder is one of the most talented heavyweights in history?
He clowned on two Yank icons in their own backyard.
Can you imagine how frustrating that must've been for the them? To see him get dropped in the first round and then not only get up, but proceed to slap the **** out of their heroes whilst dropping his hands, shaking his arse and simulating **** ****?
Joe crushed American dreams
lol Emphais on "slapped"; but really. Hops and Jones were so far over the hill they were under it when those wins happened.
