I think Trout is OK. Not great not horrible. More closer to a top contender than a ham and egger.
You lot do realise Austin Trouts a ****ing good fighter

you just described Floyd with Golden Boy. good job.Originally posted by SoggyLungsgbp and canelo have you mesmerized with his performances against past prime and vastly undersized opponents..but when faced with someone his own size and someone who isn't shot, he looks ordinary...if we're giving a label of "superstar", "the next big thing!", "floyd's TOUGHEST OPPONENT EVER!!!!" then they need to show more than what canelo did against trout...because what i saw was a guy who looked ordinary...

what's even funnier is that now, Trout is "just good but not great". they don't realize they just described Floyd's last 6 years of opposition.Originally posted by Cuauhtémoc1520What I find hilarious in this place and the hypocrisy of people is how BEFORE the fight was ever even made, they said Canelo would NEVER have the balls to take this fight.
Now that he won, Trout is a joke of a fighter.

to be honest it was my sleeper fight of the year, enough quality punches to make it exciting, but it it was a chess match. Canelo could of upped his workrate but lets not forget if someones very skilful, its hard to get into range.
Regardless of what you lot think in terms of predictions, Trout is as good of prep for Mayweather as you can get.Comment

This ^^^^
Before that fight, almost everyone thought Canelo was making a mistake and would lose that fight and his chance at Mayweather.
Now that Trout lost, he's a bum and the fight meant nothing.Last edited by Boxing Goat; 08-27-2013, 01:53 PM.Comment

Trout is a damn good fighter. Easily a top 5 JMW. & whoever said he is average at best is ****** smhComment

we'll need to see more of trout's career to really know what he's got. that said, he was the best guy campaigning at 154 when alvarez fought him. the best fighter at the weight would have been floyd mayweather, but he was taking fights at 147 at the time.
it's quite obvious that trout isn't some terrific fighter, but he was a prime, true jr MW, and a southpaw, and coming off of the best win of his career.
other than mayweather there wasn't a tougher fight at 154 for alvarez to take.
i too get a huge kick out of the revisionist history of the bsceners. trout was the biggest thing since sliced bread because he wasn't alvarez. once alvarez signed to fight him, something the bsceners never expected, the hype started to fade. once trout lost to alvarez, he became a bum.Comment
