But he didn't make Cotto look ordinary. He didn't put his foot down in the fight until late in the 2nd half of the fight. Ordinary is what Pacquiao did to Cotto.

        This.

Trout is a good fighter, he did better than judges had him doing in the Canelo fight. But he never committed to his punches and was made to miss a lot by Canelo, his activity kept him in that fight.

I had the majority of the fight between Canelo-Trout even. Austin Trout in my mind is a very good fighter. I was disappointed with his showing versus Delvin Rodriguez(as with Rodriguez). Trout's jab is decent and more of a range finding jab rather than a power jab. I do hope that Trout can get a few more big fights.

Look, he beat, and beat well imo a guy whos a very good fighter. Austin trout is not only very skilful but has a tremendous jab and reach advantage over Canelo. I was so impressed how the young man performed that night.

As Austin trout said "I didn't realise he was that good"

Don't you know the rules of NSB? If you lose you are automatically a bum. Check the forum rules.

I don't think you can consider him great in those departments. For example I think Lara at 154 is better than Trout in all those 3 categories.

Castillo is not a great fighter, he's just tough. Genaro was old, hatton was too small for floyd and had no defense, De la Hoya was already past it.

Trout is a harder fight than all of them.

If you would fight all the guys you just mentioned, and you fought trout, trout would be the hardest one to beat.

Trout beat Cotto worse than Mayweather did in my opion and made him look pretty ordinary compared to how he had looked against other fighters.
This is just my opinion of course. That said, Trout is an exceptional fighter and is way, way above average.

I was having the same debate the other day. I think Canelo gets too much criticism for that fight. Austin Trout is a tough fight for anyone. I can see if Canelo fought someone at Guerrero's level and did just OK, then there's something to think about or be concerned about if you're supporting Canelo. But put Floyd in with Trout and I guarantee it won't be as easy a fight for him as it was with Guerrero.
