Coming from a guy who "claims" your not gonna watch the fight? What a loser to show so much interest to something you don't "care" about or want to watch.

So you think fighting an old, shot, coming off a 17 month layoff, with no legs version of mosely was a great win,,,
Margs was a walking punching bag,,, Shane didnt need any legs vs margs and shane still had power, beat down margs,,, then sat on the sidelines for 17 months before floyd was ready to fight him,,, yes that is a great win, fighting a 40 year old off a 17 month layoff, hell even floyd had a tune-up before mosely,,,
You're right, Shane wasn't in fighting shape when he fought Floyd.
You're right, Shane wasn't already training for Berto earlier that same year.
You're right, Shane beating Margarito meant nothing.
You're right, no one was saying Floyd would never fight Shane.
You're right, Shane wasn't the #1 ranked Welterweight when he fought Floyd
You're right, Shane never turned down Floyd in 1999
You're right, Shane never turned down Floyd in2006
You're right, everyone was clamoring for Floyd/Shane in late 2007
      I'm wrong, we good.

I respect anyone's educated opinion my man. If you feel it was close just elaborate for me because if that fight was close, that means Floyd/Zab was a close fight.

The way I recall it, most of the boxing world was *****ing and moaning about Floyd pursuing a DLH rematch because most felt he decisively won the first fight. Logic dictates that a rematch would have been 100% embraced for the highest grossing fight in history if fans thought it was genuinely close or controversal.

Once again, missing the point, after oscar, a shane fight in 07 would ahve been mega huge, shane was oscar's rival, and thought of as a true threat to floyd,, but floyd "retired" and shane signed to fight cotto, and then floyd rushed back to pick on hatton at welter,, hatton was a crap welter, and the only thing that made the fight special was all of hatton's fans invading vegas, anyone else knew hatton had little to no chance, especially at welter

Cotto fought Floyd in 2012 because he was allowed to. Arum wasn't their to prohibit it from happening, and Cotto felt like a new man at 154. Cotto and Bruscles once shared the same trainer, not sure how true it is, but the the Bruscles fight was used as a measuring stick to see if Cotto would be able to take him, hence why the fight never happened at 140. Also why Cotto himself has admitted to never expressing interest in the fight before 2012. Not saying Cotto was scared, im just implying that I believe Cotto always felt he would lose that fight around that time. But at 154, he felt new and really believed it was a fight he could win. Hence why he was disappointing in the judges decision when they finally fought because he thought he was finally able to beat him. Just my theory, not parading it as fact lol.
I can see bob keeping cotto away in 05,06 and even 07, but in 2008 it was time to cash out cotto in a huge mega fight, and floyd was nowhere to be found, and so bob made cotto-margs,, if bob was trying to protect cotto at that time, i doubt he would have made the shane and margs fights for cotto,, those werent cherrypick fights

Floyd/Shane late December would have been a ****** fight. No one was asking for that fight after Mosley beat Calloza. He fought Cotto later that year and lost a disputed decision, many thought he should have rematched Cotto. Are you serious,,, shane-floyd in 07 would have been a huge fight, Floyd had just become a true superstar, biggest draw in the sport, had just beaten oscar, so why not fight oscar's nemesis in shane, would was a highly ranked welter at the time, and on a win streak, that fight would have been huge after the oscar fight,,, but once again floyd was retired so shane fought cotto, and once it was signed, TA DA floyd is back, calling out hatton, If floyd was like oscar or ali he would have fought shane for big money in 07, then turned around and fought hatton early 08 and cotto late 08. Thats what a true ATG that is the biggest name in the sport would have done, not sit on the sidelins, fight smaller guys with no realistic chance vs floyd ala hatton and jmm, and then when the dust clears, come beat up the old shot past prime versions of shane and cotto

Hatton wanted to move up and win his second title at 147 so stop it.Hatton had already won a strap at 147, remember he looked like crap and got a gift decision from judges vs collazo the year before.. He looked so bad that he quickly rushed back down to 140 instead of defending it at welter, and there was big fights for hatton at welter like judahm gatti, corrales, but everyone knew, hatton included, that he was a crap welter, but to hatton's credit he is not afraid of challenges so he acceptted the huge payday to to floyd.. If roles were reversed you wouldnt see floyd moving up to challenge anyone, without a catchweight,
Thanks for the debate, but you need to realize floyd ducked the big fights,, only way to explain it,,,, in the past 10 years, just name his big fights,, and everyone will have floyd at an advantage like the hatton or jmm, or a catchweight with canelo, or waiting til they got old and shot like cotto and shane,,, But once again there is always an excuse from the fanboys,,,

                    3. I give guys like oscar and shane passes because they fought other top guys like each other, tito, ike, vernon, hopkins, floyd, manny winky, vargas, cotto, margs,,
Floyd is fighting bruscles, gatti, shambra, ghost ortiz, old shane, shot cotto, catchweight canelo, hatton at welter,,,
Do you see a pattern or are you just in denial

                    4. Oscar fought everyone in his prime from 96-2003 or at least 90% of the fights we wanted to see, so did shane,, they even took huge challenges like winky wright, forest and hopkins, and undefeated prime tito at welter,,,
Floyd has never done such things, so lets stop comparing floyd to prime oscar and shane,, floyd hasnt fought a threatening fight since castillo in 03, so for a decade and for the last 6 years since floyd has been the major star of boxing,, he has failed miserable at making big fights,,

                    5. Can you imagine if other great ATGs were like floyd..
Ali would never fight frazier, norton, foreman,
oscar wouldnt have fought pernell, tito, ike, shane, vargas, hopkins, floyd, manny
Srl would have never fought hearns, duran, hagler, benetiz

And fools would be saying, it was the promoters fault, it was the drug testing, Welter division wasnt that stocked when SRL was there, etc, etc,,,

                    6. Floyd failed to live up to greatness
                    2. we agree. but those guys could've made the floyd fight early. the didn't. can't hold floyd accountable for that.

                    3. don't count MW and JMW. we are talking the ww fights during the time. Odh fighting bhop in 03 doesn't have ANY bearing on 05. Thst the BS manny fans float-well ledbawa and morales selected manny in 01 and 05 so he don't have to fight guy x. BULL*****.

none of those guys are floyd. take odh for example. his toughest fights at ww wasn't tito it was shane and sweet pea. so we can theorize why he didn't fight floyd and chose gatti and move up to 154 for castelljo.

                    4. you can't judge threat in hindsight. just because floyd blew guys out doesn't mean the opponent wasn't a threat it means floyd nuetralized it. DID you see the news yesterday? Just because that woman in georgia taalked the gunman out of shooting the school up doesn't mean it wasn't real.

Posters have a terrible habit of judging a fight in hindsight for fighters they don't like and on name value for fighters they do like. YOu are too good a poster to do this.

                    5. none of the opponents refused to fight ali or srl. In part thats because its a different era. the ppv era has skewed boxing considerably. do I think other ATG's would have wagered like haymon/floyd did and not fought-NO because it wouldn't be possible in the non ppv era.

as I explained SRL did exactly what floyd is doing now. he "took off". the difference is you don't know anymore about his eye than you do floyd's hands, but you give one the clear benefit of the doubt and the other none.

                    6. floyd is the #1 p4p fighter in the world on every reputable list where media/writers votes are tabulated. he makes more than Tyson did to fight. he is a 1st ballot HOF'er. he has been in the biggest selling ppv in history. he has exceeded greatness.

what he hasn't done is what you wanted him to when you wanted it. SO you are getting back at him the only way you can-by posting a negative opinion of him that is rooted more in personal petulance than an equal application of standard. No fighter can overcome that.

                    1. I enjoy the debate as always. you make excellent points even when I disagree.

Most Pac fans place 100% of the blame on Floyd and seem to have some kinda great joy in the "Floyd's scared of Manny" nonsense. Once again, irrational.
