No but he should have fought Golovkin instead of Murray.

Golovkin was fighting in remote places against journeymen because of his legal battle with Universum fcuking him over to protect their prized possession in strum. The moment he gets released he's in the US, on HBO chasing and fighting the top MWs in the world. And how Leb's and Dibellas comments show how they want nothing to do with Golovkin

true Stevens isn't top shelf but Mora is hard to look good against. Stevens fight would be electric.

Samson probably should have kept all this private and tried to make the fight behind the scenes, you're right talking smack does damper negotiations or even starting them. I just think he's trying to force the issue.

before Golovkin got with K2, Universum just had him fight euro level guys and he was totally under the radar.

I just don't see the ducking, at least yet
Fighting Chavez is acceptable, that was a huge PPV. But after that he should have fought Golovkin. Golovkin is an overhyped guy right, so i dont see why he fought Murray over him

Sergio, What's Wrong With Beating The Same Guys You Beat? Were They All Soft????

Sergio, is playing that "Mayweather Card", same as why Floyd stalled to fight Pacquiao.... Floyd was waiting for someone else to come along and do the dirty work, either drag Pacquiao thru several wars, take a lot of steam out of him, or even beat him, so Floyd would never have to engage. Sergio is doing the same thing. There's nothing wrong with Gennady beating the same guys Sergio beat, UNLESS those guys were all soft to begin with. If they were okay for Sergio, then why not Gennady? Sergio doesn't have the ballz to fight Gennady. Everytime Sergio gets in the ring these days, he gets hurt or nearly knocked out. He wants NO PART of Gennady. This Stevens guy, COMING DOWN to Middleweight, means he still walks around on fight night at more than 180/185lbs, fighting guys much smaller, just like when Bernard Hopkins stopped Oscar Dela Hoya with a one punch to body shot. Bhop was much larger than Oscar was. Sergio is a weasel.

I doubt it. Perhaps more than what HBO put up (they pay much less for international fights), but likely 80% of the money made in that fight came from Argentinian sources.

Yet the'll probably make more money against him then fighting anyone else at MW. Murray reportedly turned down an offer that would pay him more than the Sergio fight
all I'm saying Golovkin's promoter and trainer make him out to be the most avoid guy in the game. how many times do they say "we just can't get him fights" "nobody wants to fight him" and it very true because Golovkin is dangerous. but saying a guy is too green sounds like they're saying he's too dangerous. I don't think it's true but it sounds like it.
They want top MWs, not guys like stevens. Guys like him are a last resort when top guys wont fight. GOlovkin would be settling for him. Like i said would you call it ducking if Bailey called Bradley out?
Stevens is there and coming off a pretty spectacular KO. it'd be such an easy fight to promote. Golovkin and Stevens both just crushed guys it took Sergio Martinez longer to beat.

Golovkin probably beats Stevens but it'd be a good fight while it lasts. I just didn't like Abel Sanchez's take on things because Golovkin is seriously lacking opponents why not take a guy who's willing and coming off a great KO
It was Saul Roman, lets not get carried away, he's completely washed up and been stopped 7 times. Just look at Steven's fight against Findley in April. If people watched that, nobody would be calling for this fight

So I guess we agree that GGG was unknown up until September 2012; in part due to his legal woes with Universum.

Anyhow, as you already know Sergio ended the Chavez fight with a broken left hand and an injured knee that required surgery. They needed a decent marketable opponent (Murray=Brit opponent in Argentine fight) to test how Sergio came back from his injuries. Guess what happened... Sergio went into the Murray fight with an injured knee and quickly re-injured his left hand.

I dunno, it was meant as more of a showcase fight for Sergio, a homecoming. Plus he was coming off the knee injury, a tuneup is legit. But Lou has been dismissive of him for a while, and 3G was more qualified than Barker for example, even before Proksa.

And they couldnt fight this unknown guy from Germany? This myth that murray was somehow marketable is ridiculous. Nobody from anywhere knew who he was and the place would be packed no matter who he faced. Now we how to wait another year and a half of Sergio holding on to the MW title while fighting nobody

Well he's had career threatening injuries, it happens in this sport. Hopefully, Golovkin can beef up his resume in the meanwhile and we can have a blockbuster fight in 2014 with both guys in good pristine condition.

About Murray, Argentines and Brits have a beef with each other, so it made sense for Sergio to fight a tune up coming in from injury against a Brit (in Argentina).
