you see he fought Chavez jr and was injured, he fought Murray as a come back fight and gets injured again. he's currently out until around march 2014.

I'm just curious when exactly did Martinez duck Golovkin?

and if he fights Cotto in March next year can you call it a duck considering Cotto is a legend and PPV draw?

1 of 2 things will happen.

Rubio will either inherit the WBC belt, if he wins, and become the full champ or the WBC will keep him as an interim champ until somebody they like comes a long and make him the full champ.
Martinez will be out for more than a year by the time he fights again, but WBC already shown they don't care about their rules
Yeah so they should just offer Rubio sum money if ggg wins put him in there with Stevens,if he wins unify with quillon then he would have earned his fight with Martinez for a HBOwcb event not ppv..mRtinez is most likely gonna fight Mora in hiz next fight.so ggg has time to better his resume

Golovkin has earned his spot and his rep. however for a guy who's lacking top quality opponents why not Stevens? a guy who's coming off a big KO win.

the fight would help boost Golovkin's beast status

Chavez is moving up and GGG won't fight at the full 168 (sorry but that's an actual fact, his team didn't wanted Rodriguez at the full 68)

Quillen is with GBP and let's be honest he's just keeping that title warm for Canelo. plus HBO and GBP don't work together.

so I think Abel Sanchez is blowing smoke when he mentions those two names.

I think at the end of the day Stevens would be a good fight for Golovkin because if he doesn't fight somebody calling him out and fights a B/C level guy, the whole most avoided billing kind of fades.
Stevens is a B/C level guy, same level as Mora. And as you can see, it's Team Stevens that's putting the damper on his, not Team GGG.

And Stevens is top opposition that will boost his status?

Majority of the golovkin haters are saying Stevens isnt that good but are demanding Golovkin fight him. He has to fight someone calling him out? Stevens is at most the 20th best guy at 160, just because he's calling him out (and it seems his team dont want to actually makes the fight). Its like calling someone like Pac, Bradley, JMM or FLoyd duckers if Bailey called them out. Golovkin has much big fish to fry, but if he cant get those guys to fight, then i have no problem with Stevens. People are making it seems like he HAS to fight him

He ducked before he was injured. People need to accept that Sergio and his entire team with Leb and Dibella have made it clear that they dont want GOlovkin. At this point Sergio will never fight anyone again because he'll injure his finger nail after every fight and say he needs another tune up

They must think so. If I remember, NBC was talking him up like he was the best puncher at MW.
They'll probably try to market him as such.
If they think he's gotta a good chance at second string middles, they got something cause HBO is invested in the division, and he's #1 US MW off Showtime. if they know it's all smoke and mirrors, might as well cash him out while there's some interest

                haters are going to hate.

Golovkin isn't in the position of a Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather, they do what they want. everybody wants to get rich fighting them. you don't get rich fighting GGG

all I'm saying Golovkin's promoter and trainer make him out to be the most avoid guy in the game. how many times do they say "we just can't get him fights" "nobody wants to fight him" and it very true because Golovkin is dangerous. but saying a guy is too green sounds like they're saying he's too dangerous. I don't think it's true but it sounds like it.

Stevens is there and coming off a pretty spectacular KO. it'd be such an easy fight to promote. Golovkin and Stevens both just crushed guys it took Sergio Martinez longer to beat.

Golovkin probably beats Stevens but it'd be a good fight while it lasts. I just didn't like Abel Sanchez's take on things because Golovkin is seriously lacking opponents why not take a guy who's willing and coming off a great KO

So I guess he started "ducking" since before the Chavez fight... Sergio should have canceled his September ppv for a BAD with GGG. As far as I'm concerned GGG didn't come into the scene until the Proksa fight which was September 2012, before then he was an unknown fighter fighting in remote places against unknown journeymen and club fighters--what's more he was only fighting twice a year... 2011 vs Ouma and Lajuan; 2012 Fuchigami before Proksa...

Martinez will probably fight him in 2014 so GGG needs to beef up his resume to better market the fight.

Golovkin was in court with Universum before Martinez fought Chavez. he didn't get totally free of Universum until march 29 2012. Martinez had fought Macklin a few weeks earlier. you could say he ducked Golovkin by fighting Chavez but you can't fault any fighter for passing the biggest purse in his career.

before Golovkin got with K2, Universum just had him fight euro level guys and he was totally under the radar.

I just don't see the ducking, at least yet

Stevens is exactly like David Lemieux. Crushing power that will flatten fringe guys, but smarter fighters will know how to deal with them. Both are so in love with their power and want so badly to deliver it, that they leave themselves wide open and will fall apart mentally if they cannot deliver in quick fashion.

They are both limited, but have the capability to score huge upsets. All it takes is for an opponent to slightly off on their game or come into the fight cold.

I say put them in the ring against each other. The one who fights smarter and picks his shots will win and learn something valuable, that they can carry with them into future fights with top level guys.
