  • Comments Thread For: Team Golovkin Discuss Stevens Fight, Lewkowicz Jabs

In an earlier article on BoxingScene.com - Sampson Lewkowicz, the adviser to WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, stated that IBO/WBA champ Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24KOs) needs to face a dangerous opponent like Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18KOs). Golovkin is scheduled to return on an HBO televised date of November 2, and Stevens has been mentioned as a possible candidate.

Since moving down to the middleweight division, Stevens has displayed deadly power. He crushed Saul Roman in the first round on Saturday night, and he immediately called for a fight with Golovkin. Martinez is still recovering from his win over Martin Murray in April. He suffered several injuries during the fight and won't return to action until the first quarter of 2014. [Click Here To Read More]

Why immediately tear down what has taken so many years to build? Curtis has just now started to make a name for himself and he is too green indeed for Golovkin. There's no need to rush this fight. Give Curtis more fights to gain the much needed experience he will need to face Golovkin. Curtis only has power going for himself and he is going to need more than that to beat Golovkin but somehow I think Curtis' promoter is well aware of this and is only using Golovkin's name for recognition.

Abel Sanchez is a zen master. He broke it down perfectly. Stevens isn't ready yet but he does have power. The fact that he's not afraid of GGG makes him more dangerous than other guys in the division. I just hope Golovkin doesn't ruin him. I think Stevens would benefit from training and sparring with GGG and Sanchez. I always thought he had potential.

"We offered Martin Murray more money than he got paid for Martinez and he turned it down"

If HBO approves then go for it. Martin Murray refused, and they seem to be over paying people to fight GGG. Stevens wants it which is the main thing.

            she actually is hesitant.
They should strike now while his profile is up.
GGG or chocolate, either or works.
            He'll lose either way

Like I mentioned earlier, its like comparing a Ferrari with a Volkswagen bug with flat tires. It would get ugly quick for Mr Stevens, maybe in a year or so he might be ready.

This is such a joke, after the fight everyone will say he was fighting somebody too green or somebody who was never good to begin with.
I'll be cool with this fight if Geale/Barker isn't made or if this is in December, but let's be realistic now, Stevens will get crushed.

                    Golovkin is hyped!

GGG Knocks out nobodies and now he is the best thing since sliced bread only people that dont know boxing are lauding this kid they talk about stevens inexperience but how much experience does GGG have, and who has he fought? His professional resume is not impressive at all, if stevens and or chocolate can take his punches they will beat him, mark my words when he faces someone with one punch ko power, good skills and a solid chin, he will be exposed as another miranda or kelly pavlik they were saying the same thing about those two until they were exposed. I actually like even kelly pavlik to beat this guy if he was dedicated and left the booze alone, golovkin is hype and will get exposed when matched with a puncher, with good skill and a solid chin, mark my words.
