really the Kessler fight is the only viable option. Perhaps Lacy given his domination over him, but Jeff was basically as bad as all Zaghes eurobum opponents if not worse. Kessler was the only one that wasn't - he was a real deal bona fide international level opponent and champ and prime.

Hopkins? - No, you cant count inching out a fortysomething a good victory. Its the exact opposite -its an appalling victory.
Reid? - A very good opponent, BUT not a good victory, because its an arguable loss. A potential loss is never a good victory.

Everyone else he faced in his 16 year career was at regional/national level so no other fight can count as decent on world level, whatever the outcome.

Everyone else? Bika too? Get your head out your arse

My fave will always be the Lacy fight because it vindicated Calzaghes efforts over a long and at times limiting career.

ok *********, 'These aside, every other opponent in his 16 year career apart from Bika'

If Bika is the only fallacy in my remark about a 16 year career, then my point is still as strong as it was. Whose head is where, again?

Bika, Hopkins (went on to win multiple world championships), Jones, Kessler, Veit, Mitchell, Woodhall, Sheika, Reid and Eubank...eurobums? All were champions or former champions or top ranked contenders. That resume is terrific in itself, combined with a long title reign and undefeated stature makes Calzaghe one of the best over the last decade.

How can a 43 year old still be in his prime, dumbass? You can say still a good, capable fighter, but prime at 43? Lol

true, but I enjoyed he Kessler win best because it went one way (Kessler till halfway/hand breakage?) then the other (Calzaghe outgassing him), a real thrill to watch rather than beating up a eurobum. And by the end of the fight, it finally told us Calzaghe could mix it at world level. Just a great shame it had to wait for his last real fight for this to be revealed.

No need for name calling Mr. I have a million post.

He was just as good at 43 as he was at 33 or 23. The Benard at 23 lost his first fight to a no name fighter.

'terrific resume'? - wow you have an imagination, I will give you that.

Kessler I already mentioned was a good win, and Reid too so not sure why you brought up these 2 non-applicable points.

A washed up legend is basically on the level of eurobum. That's Jones these days. Theres nothing wrong with saying hes at eurobum level now, though hes obviously not a eurobum careerwise.

Veit on the other hand is a eurobum. His career was built up around 4 and 6 rounders against nobodies. Sheika wasn't quite so bad but he was a safe, easily beatable opp.

Woodhall was not a terrible opponent, but he was never consistently good beyond his amateur career.

Mitchell was finished and disinterested, as was Eubank. They were at alltime lows in their respective careers.

Yeah now I can see why you decided to include Kessler and Reid lol. Because your actual argument was invalid without them.

If you think at 43 he was physically the same at 33 then you truly are a dumbass.
