Its hard to defend when you're given guys who can barely win FNFs and are there to easily get stopped and beat up. Only reason yuri fought at those weights is because he couldnt get make the lower weights. He needs to step up already

Where oh where did you get that info on Gamboa? he may be a fk up when it comes to his career but he has never ever had or expressed he had an issue making weight not once even at 126 he went up because he could do it thinking he was chasing Broner and big payday fights which completely backfired. Goes to show just because you can do something doesn't mean you should and idk what your opinion is but to me Mares is a mile higher of a step than frikking Fortuna even if he schools fortuna he wont get any respect for it or advance his name in any way, now Mares is a diff animal .

I must agree. Gamboa never gave any indication he had trouble making weight. It definitely seems he moved up in hopes of landing big fights. I thought it was a bad idea from the start, since I believed Yuri was too small for 135. But you can't blame him; there were no opportunities at 126 and 130. Now things are real, real cloudy....

Why else would he go up inn weight and fight a 50th ranked guy and barely beat him? He didnt wanna even try making 130 so he just signed up to fight at 135 to take that burden off himself

Lets be real, he is not facing Mares next, nor anytime soon. Instead he will probably fight a nobody next again. Fortuna is a very good up and coming fighter and will be 50X better then the next guy Gamboa faces

How can you say there were no opportunities when you fight the 50th ranked guy? The 49 better fighters all werent available?

I already told you why he moved up and i still think that was a huge fk up and its a fact he never ever had trouble or even said he had trouble making weight, Who else could he legitimately fight ? Most guys had fights schedule Demarco was traumatized by Broner or some **** and 50 cent has his head up his ass, and even with all that, he could very well fight Mares next hes not tied down by top rank and then there is this.

So its not like im pulling the mares thing out of my ass it can realistically happen so why oh why would you want him to fight Fortuna instead if you want him to step up?

Call me crazy, but I think he's actually right.

I have Fortuna beating and probably stopping Gamboa

I'm sure that's their reasoning. My post above says what I think about that.
Yeah, too bad he has yet to take the opportunity to challenge himself.

Thus why I think this cat is so overrated. I know I will catch heat for stating what would be seemingly obvious to some but damn, he is under a second promotional banner and he still fighting like he's content to be contender status.

Now the man has skill/athleticism no doubt, but what good is any of this if we keep seeing the same type of performances, long lay offs, and less than stellar opposition?

I think he's is getting too much credit for things he has yet to accomplish.

By the way, this post is no way shape or form a flame to you.

How is it chasing a guy when you fight a 50th ranked guy and almost lose? Are you saying he couldnt have possibly fought any better then Perez at 135? Denial at its best

I know that article but the fight is almost certainly not happening next. We've been hearing this circle jerk from Gamboa for almost 2 years now. If it doesnt, he should have no problem facing Fortuna next, correct?
