If Mayweather had fought during Duran's era, he probably would have stayed between 130 and 140 pounds. He would have schooled Duran at 135 and probably stopped him.
Sorry bro.............saying Floyd would have stopped Duran is a pure JOKE..........he couldn't hurt Duran. I can guarantee you that. And if you think the Castillo fights were tough??

Floyd would have been beaten badly by Duran at LW.......at least once. He was much more likely to KO Mayweather than the other way around. Personally I think Floyd makes it to the finish line and possibly wins a close rematch. But very likely it would have had to have been at 147........

Floyd is a great fighter. Probably to 30 all-time. Duran was the best LW ever, or at least since B. Leonard (both trained by Ray Arcel BTW)............and discounting what Duran did from 147 up is ridiculous. He beat Leonard, went the distance with Hagler, fought a very close fight with Benitez, and beat Barkley who KO'd Hearns.........

But not understanding how good Duran was at LW is very clear in your comment........

      Oh dear god
Just a quick point.............someone remind me how many fights Floyd had at his 'best weight'??

But I agree the post about him stopping Duran is a joke.......

        • Floyd at lw has a very good chance of beating Duran and vice versa at lw. After the Castillo fights, Floyd became a pretty good lw once he filled out. You can't match the dominant Duran against the Floyd who fought Castillo in fight 1. You can't match the Floyd who filled out with the Duran who fought DeJesus in fight 1 either. Take them at their best. I think Duran wins, but Floyd is a very, very live dog.

No, I haven't - I wasn't interested in the rest of what you posted, just the laughable assertion that Duran had too much respect for the sport to resort to dirty, unprofessional tactics (in spite of the fact that he has a history and reputation of such things.)

I think you even tried to suggest that the reason Duran quit was because he (Leonard) was making a mockery of the sport.

If having a "close fight" means getting soundly outboxed and looking like complete and utter sh^t in the process, sure.

Floyds best weight was 130-140 and yes ko'd some guys at those weights but he was never a big power puncher,,,,

I honestly believe floyd was at the height of his powers mentally and physically when he was at 140,,,,,, but he had 3 fights there, corley, brucsles, and gatti,,, not exactly a murderer's row

              • Duran was a dirty bastard! He hit Ken Buchanan in the bollocks & refused a rematch. John H.Stracey would have maybe beaten him as well!

                    • I like it when an ATG brings up the obvious about Floydie. We need that to counteract Floydies big mouth and those of his dimwitted fanboys.
