Bottom line is if GGG can make 154 he is not too big for floyd ... he is simply too good.
    If he can, yes. If.

Until he actually does it, it's irrelevant.

Golovkin has been a professional boxer since 2006 and he has NEVER weighed lower than 159 lbs in his entire career

He's even been as high as 161 lbs on multiple occasions.

The guy is a Middleweight until proven otherwise and I highly doubt a guy who has been a pro since 2006 and has been at Middleweight for the absolute entirety of his career is going to move down to Jr Middleweight anytime soon.
He is currently, again, you jump to conclusions and assumptions when you have no place having them. The only person it matters to is Gennady if he wanted to attempt to make the weight.

By the way, a boxer fighting in a weight class for the entirety of his career doesn't bind him to the weight class. Exceptional athletes who have the discipline, nutrition and motivation can jump between weight classes. Floyd does it with 147 - 154, yet you assume nobody else can.

He has said he would move down to face Floyd at 154. If you think it's irrelevant I guess I'm confused as to why we have multiple division champions.

I have no problem with the fight if he can make it but I have a huge doubt that he can make it considering he's been a MW his whole career spanning 7 years and has been no lower than 159 in that time period.

If he moves down to 154 and dominates there like he has been at 160 and shows he can make the weight comfortably then yeah, make the fight or demand the fight.

But how can you demand or expect Mayweather to fight a guy he's been no lower than Middleweight for the last 7 years?

        • Is this thread serious? Or is it a troll thread. Because I know you can't actually take this seriously.

If he wants to attempt to make the weight then go ahead and move down to 154.

It both puts him in a strong(er) position for a Mayweather fight and puts to sleep any excuses in regards to weight.

It doesn't blind him from the weight class. Just logically looking at it a guy who has been at 160 his whole career moving down 6 lbs, a weight he hasn't been at in a long long time seems unlikely and branding him a Jr MW on nothing but the premise of "Well, he say's he can make it and might be able to make it" is foolish and naive despite every stat pointing to fact that it's unlikely.

And Mayweather jumping between 147 and 154 is completely different. If Mayweather were to have been at 154 for the past 7 years like Golovkin has been at 160 for the last 7 years then it would be just as unlikely for Mayweather to move down comfortably as it is Golovkin moving down uncomfortably.

The problem with that is there is never any guarantee with Mayweather, Gennady would be moving down without a firm statement as to if Mayweather would ever fight him, hence he's attempting to get the fight going beforehand when/if ever it is 100% sure the fight is on.

It's simply an opponent that many can see has true talent, I'd argue GGG is better than Canelo in close to everything besides counter punching, and so the question rests on peoples shoulders if Floyd fights Canelo I wonder how Golovkin would do against Floyd if all of his attributes follow with the weight.

It's a great match up with plenty of what ifs. I think that can be agreed at least.

                • Its funny how the girls here are affraid of even talking about GGG vs Floyd.
What's up, he can fight Canelo at 154 but he cant do the same with GGG?
Come on, Floyd's the undefeated god of boxing, what's poor little GGG going to do to him. Easy money for Floyd! No? You dont like that cherry either?
Maybe Floyd can go after Danny Garcia after Lucas leaves him with brain damage.

Agreed but why not move down anyway? A fight with Canelo or even Cotto is a bigger payday than anyone at 160 or at least the same. So moving down seems logical even without the Mayweather fight. And that still puts him in position for a Mayweather fight in regards to legitimate demand. Because as long as he stays at MW he has no leg to stand on in regards to a Mayweather fight.

In regards to the actual fight, assuming Golovkin can make 154 just as comfortable as he can 160 (for the record I highly doubt this) but lets assume he can, then he's a much tougher fight for Mayweather than Canelo IMO.

                    • LOL ofcourse he wont. He cemented his legacy as a duck fighting Golovkin will go against all his natural instinct. (fighting threats to his so called '0")
