horrific article, you do not become an all time great beating so called legit champs, you become it by not ducking the best, fighting the best and winning most of them

in every one of those weight classes this moron listed, there were far better champions and fighters that were ducked by floyd

This was an obvious troll article, to bait both Maynerds and Maykillers.

The facts are simple, Floyd could and should have fought primes Cotto, Mosley and Margy. That never happened. Instead his welterweight opponents are Ortiz, JMM, Mosley (old), Judah, Baldomir, Hatton etc. That's not a resume greatness is built on.

Up until the CW debacle of Canelo, I didn't mind Floyd's pop at 154, beating both Oscar and Cotto was good and provided Floyd with 2 of his best career wins.

Let us not even go anywhere near Gatti being a worthy champion at 140, that is a joke.

Below 140 Floyd did ok, he was a young fighter heading towards stardom taking the fights that were needed, he avenged a disputed decision against Castillo, beat Corrales and Hernandez, can't really argue with that. Is his resume below 140 ATG stuff? No. HOF? yes.

Why is this biased and completely **** writer still putting up articles on Boxingscene? Appalling article from a consistently appalling writer.

          Martinez struggled with Mack
          GGG destroyed him

Martinez arguably lost to Murray ... let's see how GGG does...

            well said.

            can GGG even make 154?
if he can, let him fight once there before he jumps in the water.

That being said, floyd not fighting GGG might be ok with me. GGG is knocking out 160 pounders cold, imagine the damage to 154 pounders or lower.

I don't think any real boxing fan is pushing for a Floyd/GGG match up. If GGG goes down to 154 and wins a belt and Floyd still reigns as "champion" in that division then yes he should fight him, if not, why should Floyd fight a beast at 160? The man is 5'8'' and most comfortable at 147.

Martinez v Floyd would have been ****** in my opinion too if it wasn't for that fact that Floyd said "I'm willing to fight sergio at 154"...do it then ma****a.

Anyway, that's just the way I see it.

Fitzsimmons seems better suited to write articles over at boxingnews 24. His writing style has that troll quality that you find in Scott Gilfoid/Dan Ambrose pieces that make the people in the comment section rage. It's the little things like calling the reader an idiot for holding a certain opinion. One of the most basic things you learn in speech/writting classes when trying to persuade is to respect your audience. I mean I definitely think lots of opinions are idiotic, and I'm guilty calling others idiots, but a higher standard should be set for boxingscene columns. It shouldn't be written like a personal blog.

I don't necessarily disagree with everything said, but jeez, try being less antagonistic.

To be honest I'd say he's probably better suited to painting ... writing just ain't his thing, though it seems he is yet to realize it.
