The greatest myth on this site is that Mayweather can't punch or his punches don't hurt. Yet he's wobbled every fighter from Gatti all the way to Guerrero. Maybe the reason he's still undefeated is because he's disciplined enough to remain calm and not rush an opponent when the opponent is hurt. Case in point, does anyone on here think Pacquiao would have got KO'd if he had not rushed Marquez because he thought he was hurt? Even though there was only a few seconds left in round. Mayweather may not have KO power but only a rear handful of boxers do. To say he's not capable of hurting anyone from LW to MW, including Golovkin is preposterous. As long as he remains the superior boxer, with enough pop to keep his oponents at bay, I don't see him losing to any of the current list of boxers that's being propped up to hand him his first defeat.
Comments Thread For: Martinez, not Golovkin, is the middleweight for Mayweather

You my friend are a ****in' moron.LOLs, so Pac deserves criticism for making catchweights, but Cherrypicker doesn't. Hypocrite
Its not a cherrypick for GGG because GGG is still largely unproven. GGG just has tremendous upside. Martinez is past prime now. The expectation is that GGG would good boy Martinez. So its not necessarily a cherrypick for GGG.
It would be a cherrypick for Floyd because Martinez is past his prime, and Floyd waited for Martinez to be ripe for the picking before he fought Martinez. He would've gotten a lot more credit if Martinez didn't have that poor showing against Murray, but then again, Floyd wouldn't even want to fight Martinez if Martinez didn't struggle, hence the cherrypick.Comment

Cherrypicker got the pop to keep people at bay and surprise people from time to time, but he has average to below average power at WW.The greatest myth on this site is that Mayweather can't punch or his punches don't hurt. You're clearly a Golovkin stan so let me put it to you like this. If GGG can make 154, then yes, the fight should happen and I'm on bored, boxing fans are on board and Floyd fans are on board. The same way we were on board at the thought of a Canelo fight, the same fight dudes like you said Floyd would not take, but clearly, Floyd will not be solidified until he beats this GOAT named Golovkin so im with it. Even though he has an even weaker record than Canelo, for some reason, folks want to see this Middleweight fight Floyd. I want it at 154 and I got Floyd by easy UD, easier than Canelo. Yall the main ones saying how Floyd only fights easy opponents, well youre practically handing them to him now if youre hopes are high for GGG. By the way, a past prime Sergio outpoints Genady, IMO. And Peter Quillin straight up washes Golovkin. He's got crazy punching power and he does a good enough job at cutting the ring off, but, thats really all i see from the guy. Im picking skill over power on any night. It's like you're ****** or something? Do you not understand the rules of boxing and divisions? Whatever division you can make the weight for, you are part of. If Golovkin can make 154 and does so, he is then a JMW, and is treated as such, stop acting like he would have a magical advantage.
You guys ignore the rules of boxing to suit your ******ed agenda.Comment

Right !!I'm not really sure how good Canelo is but after watching part of that S1ht gurrero fight I can see why Floyd has been so protected. He can't punch for ****. He def avoided Pac for fear of not being able to out run him like he does everyone else. Floyds great at avoiding a fight even when its right in front of him. ,maybe he just looks like crap against lefties not sure but there is a reason hes avoided any real prime dangerous fighters since JLC that much is clear
And all I see is :
PICK, PROTECT AND PRESERVE

You're forgetting he also has the skills to remain undefeated. If cherry picking is going into a fight confident you will defeat the oponent in front of you, then all boxers cherry pick. Here's the difference, I'm sure all of Mayweather's oponents cherry picked him thinking he's pillow fisted, can't punch, and they'll get an easy win. However, we all know how all those matches turned out.Comment

ITs obvious that GGG can't fight all comers in one day or month, but given time, he will face all that one can , I am confident he will continue to seek and Destroy the top fighters in 160 - 168, and he would totally destroy May JR.
GGG has the skills to get his shots where they need to be. IF GGG has nothing but power then JR should jump on such an easy fight to DEFEND HIS TITLE at 154,,,,right ?Comment

yep, cherrypicker is great at match making for himself.
there's a difference between confidence and risk-aversion. Most boxers have confidence. Floyd is risk averse. If cherry picking is going into a fight confident you will defeat the oponent in front of you, then all boxers cherry pick.
If you get a fight with cherrypicker and only worry about his power and think you'll get an easy win, then you deserve to loseHere's the difference, I'm sure all of Mayweather's oponents cherry picked him thinking he's pillow fisted, can't punch, and they'll get an easy win. How long will it take for this to sink in for you, how many times does it need to be repeated: Amateurs is same day weighin. 165 fight night is a medium sized SWW in the pros. When he was 22 of age, Golovkin won the Olympics at 165 (i.e. "middleweight" for amateurs) -- Therefore GGG is a "natural" middleweight AND/OR super middleweight...
On the other hand, Martinez acquired his belts in welterweight, light middleweight, and middleweight divisions.
Therefore, (if healthy) Martinez would be the right choice for a Mayweather fight...
Also, Martinez didn't acquire any belts at 147, and only won a vacant interim one at 154. He eventually go promoted to full, but with 0 defensesComment
