I don't think anyone is doubting his atg status but there were better fighters who beat much better opposition... Some of you fan boys think this dude is unbeatable because of his 0... He has worked very hard guidin himself to keep that 0, and he's the first cash cow to not fight the very best available ( victor ****ing Ortiz just one example), and hopefully god willing the last. That's my last thought on the matter.

Floyd has been at 147+ since 2005. That is a long time.

The thing is that Floyd was not one of those fighters where you say, he had nobody that he could have fought so that is why his resume is the way it is.
The best example of that was Larry Holmes. He started at the tail end of one of the great HW eras in boxing but it was not because he was avoiding fighters.

If Floyd really wanted to fight Manny, as an example. He wouldn't have made it so difficult for it to happen. The reason I bring up that fight is because that is a fight where there are videos of Floyd jr, Floyd Sr and uncle Roger all saying that "they never seen a guy go up from 106 to 150 and walk thru them bigger guys" ..... so in other words, they felt that Manny was a threat and therefore were not too interested in making it happen.
So Foyds greatness lies with Manny? They both wereat fault not just Floyd from what I remembered. Someone was afraid of needles? They also said Manny would be an easy fight too. Is Manny a threat? Yes does fighting him mean he is an all-time great or not? It would make a stronger case but isn't the sum of a 17 year body of work at the top of the sport for nearly half of it. So besides Pac the only other threat would have been Cotto or PW. Not the margarito media hype thrown by Arum. We could say Shane but his tooth was hurting remember?

Very overrated and way overpaid, never have I seen a defensive fighter so highly praised. To the people sayin Floyd has fought top level competition, please get your heads checked.

Oscar was still a cash cow and fought 2lb Steve Forbes at 147 lol besides most fighters at the top had their career "guided" but I see your point.

I used Manny as that is the best example. Floyd had several occasions to fight others as well but decided to go on long vacations instead. Or closed his ears when those fighters called him out.

but Floyd fans keep on bringing up "but Marquez called out Floyd"

The point is, like it or not, there are not many defining moments resume wise. So if you blame him or not, the fact is that he is left with that resume and Floyd didn't care to improve it when the occasions came up.

All-Time Overrated? Maybe but he is without a doubt one of the best to ever put on a pair of gloves...

Floyd is one of the guys who got me into the sport and I've been defending him for years but people who know boxing will always remember what could have been...

What if he fought prime Miguel Cotto, or prime Manny Pacquiao, or prime Paul Williams...or any fight where he wasn't heavily favored to win once he reached the top...

I think he would have beaten all 3 guys but I would have loved to see him fight at least ONE of those guys who looked to be a wrecking machine at one point in time...

Oscar is a horrible example oscar faught EVERYONE. I have nothing bad what so Ever to say about him. I also agree with the post above, I feel he could have cleaned out that welter weight division and gave us a bunch of great fights however... It did not happen.

True but to say he's the first. Lol Every cash cow has some bs fights. I could careless about Floyd's 0 and his money for sure. The only thing I hate is that he had to change into a character to get recognized. This is a truly rare fighter we are seeing like him or not. Now most fighters see personality (marketing) makes them $ more than skill.
