Is it possible that May is overrated???

I doubt it. Plus those are dates wanted by most fighters not just Floyd. It's only because of his numbers he gets those dates. If you think about it Floyd's style isn't "Mexican" friendly and most want to see him lose anyway so why not fight on their holiday and make your check bigger knowing they will buy. I don't ever see Floyd fighting on MLK. LolComment

Nope. You won't find that many 36-year-old athletes who can perform at his elite level and still be arguably the very best in their respective sports. He'll be fighting a guy in Sep 14 that some people thought he should fight two years from now just because they think there's a slight chance he'd finally show his age and lose.
Does he take easy fights? Absolutely, but he has taken some good fights as well or at least they were good fights before excuses were made by his critics. Floyd is an ATG whether you want to admit it or not.Last edited by Carpe Diem; 06-17-2013, 10:13 PM.Comment

Most only see him from 2007 not from 1997.. You don't stay on top for that long fighting for titles and not be great. Doesn't matter what sport you in someone comes to take your place in sports most sooner than later.Nope. The poster said he can't think of what to criticize. I brought up some points.
Floyd has been at 147+ since 2005. That is a long time.
The thing is that Floyd was not one of those fighters where you say, he had nobody that he could have fought so that is why his resume is the way it is.
The best example of that was Larry Holmes. He started at the tail end of one of the great HW eras in boxing but it was not because he was avoiding fighters.
If Floyd really wanted to fight Manny, as an example. He wouldn't have made it so difficult for it to happen. The reason I bring up that fight is because that is a fight where there are videos of Floyd jr, Floyd Sr and uncle Roger all saying that "they never seen a guy go up from 106 to 150 and walk thru them bigger guys" ..... so in other words, they felt that Manny was a threat and therefore were not too interested in making it happen.Comment

He's not a guy that takes on all-comers so he is overrated to some degree.
If he fought everyone people put in front of him then he likely loses and a lot of people wouldn't hold the same opinion of him today.
Still a great boxer thoComment
