  • He obviously quit. In a normal world with reasonable views he simply quit. Some South of the Border people want to say otherwise and make believe they are different from all other humans but NO.

Reminds me of the convicts that claim innocence or the song "wasn't me" by Shaggy.

If Angulo quit then Adrian Peterson quit when his ACL was torn. Benny Peret obviously quit when he was killed in the ring against Emil Griffith.

      ***ing ******!

          • Angulo didn't quit. He is just a shell of the fighter that he once was. Had he been in there with a boxer who could punch he would have been KO. That Kirkland fight really ruined him. Not only was he pushing his arm punches but he also appeared much older, slower and weaker than usual against Lara.

Moreover, none of the punches he landed on Erislandy, save for the two knockdown punches appeared to have hurt or had any effect on Lara. Angulo's punches just didn't seem to have the same amount of snap, pop or steam on them as in prior fights leading up to that James Kirkland bout.

Even with the two knockdowns he still struggled to put Lara away and those were two accurate punches that were landed on the button; With one being a counter punch. The bottom line, is that Kirkland fight shaved many years off of his boxing career and because of it he is no longer the same fighter.

I'm not ignorant to WHY he quit... but, that doesn't mean he didn't.

Some people just don't like the word quit, and like to explain exactly why he "retired" for the evening I mean whatever makes you feel better about it... but the guy quit.
Yeah, I don't like the word quit. He didn't quit in my eyes, he quit in yours. Some like to use the word quit, and never even put on a pair of gloves. He quit, he quit, lmfao! Fohwt...

No, Peret didn't have a choice. Angulo & Peterson did, thus why they quit and you cannot say anything to the contrary. Angulo could've continued, he decided not to.

The only time you don't quit is if you don't have a choice (Peret) or someone else makes it for you. Even if his arms were hanging off and he was shitting out blood, if he turns his back, he's quitting.

No, stop being a pedantic ****.

He quit, end of. Did he quit because he doesn't like getting punched? No, he quit because his eye socket was damaged and probably wanted to prevent further damage. But he still quit.

If he didn't quit, what other verb describes his action?

He said he turned to tell Virgil about the thumb but it was stopped, but that he never thought about quitting and was going to continue fighting and the ref didnt read the situation..according to him. Lara had regained "control" so to speak but that fight had the aura of Angulo stopping him (maybe it was just me.)

I'm giving el Perro the benefit of the doubt. If he was going to quit hed have done it way before. He was coming on strong, his hard work had lara where he wanted him (though Lara was still fighting) and quitting makes no sense after all he was walking through to do his damage.
