Ward WOULD school Calzaghe no Ifs or buts about it, he barely beat a 44year old Bernard Hopkins and in alot of peoples minds Calzaghe never won that fight.
You are entitled to your opinion but we will never know the answer to this as Ward has come in the era of pre-Calzaghe this is an age old question about fighters from different era's - but in my opinion at what I know about Joe is he has tremendous hand speed and work rate and his power is under-estimated a prime Calzaghe and a prime Ward would be interesting - Wards biggest wins are Kessler and Froch - Calzaghe beat Kessler and Froch was emerging when Joe was finishing his career - Ward has not fought anyone with Joes hand speed and work rate and Joe can adapt to his ooponent on the night unlike Froch which Ward figures out early on and dominated him, he would'nt have that luxury with Joe - Froch keeps his hands pretty low and is easy to hit again not with Joe - I agree Calzaghe fought mostly at home who would'nt if they could - please correct me if I'm wrong I don't think Ward has either so lets put that argument to bed -as you are saying Joe got a lucky decsiosn against Hopkins you could'nt be more further than the truth - you don't get gifted results in the States against another American fighter it won't happen the only way this happens yoyu have to win the fight out right so Joe has done this on my scorecard he won the fight by three rounds - don't mention Hopkins age with Joe in Hopkins age 40's was not a handicap to him - look what his accomplished since losing to Joe his beaten the best fighters in todays generation - Joe is well respected in the States and the British fans should be proud to have him - its only fans like you who don't - like I have said before Froch had the chance to reach Joe's level; but failed at this hurdle against Ward and knowing Joe he would worked Ward out and beaten him that's just what Joe does - I rest my case.

I like Froch more but Calzaghe would beat Froch.

Prime Kessler & Good Bhop & Good Eubank >>>>>>> better than all Froch's wins.

Froch has a very good resume but Calzaghe would go through it unbeaten I believe. Calzaghe has the work rate and the hand speed IMO to get the job done against ward.

well no one knows who he is, but if they do know him its from his gift decision against hopkins and that he's one of the guys that beat shot jones jr. no one respects him, especially after they see him fight and slap air.

Bro when did you start watching boxing in 2004? I say it again. I remember when both Roy Jones and B-Hop had the opportunity to fight Calzage none of them wanted anything to do with him. Calzaghe was THAT NICE. he won his title from Eubanks and Eubanks was mauling dudes at the time. He beat the fight out of Jeff Lacy made him look silly and at that time Jeff Lacy was a monster over here in the US. He beat a Kessler that later Beat froch. He is from the same Era of boxing as Roy, Bernard, and James Toney. Thay all could have fought him and chose not to. You have to respect Calzaghe's Legacy. That man was a beast in the ring.

it's too bad Calzaghe retired right before Froch came up
hate Calzaghe, but he still had enough to clearly beat Froch
that woulda been an exciting fight, Froch was talking mad shit then
Froch has a better resume than Calzaghe, but he's not as good
Froch's just mouthing off now because he's trying to spite Ward

Hi INSANEBOXINGFAN -you are correct the problem here in the UK these so called boxing fans think that by disrespecting Calzaghe is they think by doing this it propells Froch - but in reality Froch had his chance to at least to come close to Joe by fighting Ward and failed dsimally the fight was not even close - they can't except it so they start sprouting rubbish about Joe - it eats at Carl and his fans that he will always be behind Joe.

                Piss off Joe.

You spent the vast majority of your career at home fighting duds, then went for the names when they were old....good paper resume, crap in reality. Froch on the other hand has fought the absolute best and fought them in their country.

                    Calzaghe has a direct quote about wanting none of 'great fighter' Roy Jones back then. There's also this;

"My mum, who was always too afraid to watch me fight, would be annoyed if I went back in the ring but I'm more concerned about my youngest son Connor.

"He came into my dressing room before the Roy Jones fight crying his heart out because he saw me get knocked down against Bernard Hopkins a couple of months earlier.

"He had also spent the Jones build-up watching footage of Jones' glory years, when he was at his peak, on You Tube.

"Connor was sobbing 'dad, he is amazing' and I tried to reassure him 'don't worry son, Jones isn't that good anymore.'

What does that even mean? Everyone knew Jones wasn't that good any more. Everyone knew it was a final fight cash grab from Calzaghe. Why is that quote even significant?
