Joe Calzaghe's career is tainted anyway, hiding in Britain for the entirety of his career and avoiding all the big SMW's of his era...
Face the facts If anyone is to be called "pathetic" the name mentioned after saying that word would 9 times out of 10 would be Joe Calzaghe!
He got knocked down by old man B-hop and fought life and death with Bernard, a so called legend who was in his prime (Joe) fighting a guy well in his 40's it should of been easy work but that wasn't the case!!
Joe Calzaghe fighting a 40year old B-hop is the biggest fight of his career!!!

You don't expect anyone to believe Joe would of beat James Toney, Roy Jones Jr or B-hop when they were in there 30's do you?

His big career move to America is when he was in his late 30's!!!
Froch moved and fought over in America the first chance he was given.

The old man went on to do great stuff after being beaten by Joe.
We do realize that, "almost stopped", and "stopped" are two different things, correct? Whilst there was, indeed, some drama involving that incident, to be sure of a stoppage is a pretty generous speculation. Nigel Benn was 'almost' stopped by Gerald McClellan. Unless the situation plays out, you can't say definitively.

...Pathetic Froch believes that would make him the best pound for pound fighter in the world.
Outside of a few publications, such as The Telegraph, the British press is largely a sensationalist joke. Journalism is supposed to be objective. I think that this article overplays Calzaghe's reaction and presumes way too much.

When I was reading the article I was pretty sure when this was typed up...
"Pathetic Froch believes that would make him the best pound for pound fighter in the world."
That when that was said it was not a quote from Calzaghe but something the OP typed up...
I know there was no quotation marks so... ????
Carl Froch is far from pathetic, his resume and his bravery of not protecting his 0 by going into cherry picked opponents proves he's not pathetic.

JC was talked about as the best supermiddleweight ever before. So its unlikely as soon as the next generation would find the new next best supermiddleweight.

Froch is a great understudy and replacement for when JC was gone and to find someone like Froch so soon is a blessing for the UK.

But JC can be diplomatic at times which is good, he lets other people decide. But its true JC could have done more but what he did do cant be crticized. He beat BH in america, and BH is a candidate for fighting Froch even now and Froch dont want to risk a CW and stuff.

Froch has made the most of his latent potential, whereas Jc could have done more is the argument. But i would say JC was the better boxer, but ask Kessler. And when Froch beats BH, ask BH.

Agreed. I thought it was an OP mistake at first, so I tracked down the article, linked here.

                  http://www.dailystar.co.uk/inthering...rs-Carl-Froch/

And, as you pointed out, there are no quotation marks, the author, Kevin Francis, is just showcasing his journalistic integrity and professionalism. Then again....it's the Daily Star...

JC has a lot to say for a man that cant get in the ring and back his words up. He had the chance to fight Carl a long time ago but chose instead to fight a version of Roy Jones that was laughable.

He has been saying he 'would have' beaten Ward and now he is sticking his oar in on Carl's moment in the sun.

If it were me I'd rather be known as a world class fighter that never shirked a tough fight and was always willing to travel.

Being known as a 46-0 fighter who took a series of soft defences and never left his own country until the very end of his career when he knew he had to in order to gain any sort of credibility is nothing to shout about. where was he when Jones and Hopkins were in their primes?

nope...records dont mean crap to me. froch's resume > calzaghes all day long.

People love to rewrite history on here. I bet none of you had even heard of Carl Froch when Calzaghe fought Jones now you'll claim that he ducked Froch

It's basically the equivalent of saying Froch is ducking Groves now. They were simply at different levels at the time, not to mention different weight classes!
