but that's not the same as floyd who is a 2x world champion compared to oscar who only had one fight at 160 which he lost but was given a gift decision.

you said its the same exact thing as floyd and canelo. its not.

i should make my OP more accurate.

Delahoya was WBO champion and asked Hopkins to come in at 158.

I love how people are talking like floyds two trips to 154 werent 5 years apart....like he campaigns there or something. he's a 147 fighter who dipped his head to 154 for two of the biggest fights in ppv history that he couldnt even make weight for. Just fought at 147 AGAIN And now he's going up again against a champ over a decade younger and 15-20 lbs heavier and people are crying foul because of 1lb? stop it.

and im saying this as someone who doesnt like cw fights for titles.

All honesty he shouldve been stripped of the 154 title for not defending it in over a year. So we wouldnt have to hear this bs

so no its not the same exact thing.
This is the textbook definition of splitting hairs and hypocrisy. You are saying that, because Oscar only had one fight at 160, it is okay for him to demand that Hopkins fight him at a two pound catchweight. However, since Mayweather has had two fights at 154 -- even though they were five years apart -- it is not okay for him to fight a fellow champin at a catchweight.

You are also saying tht it would it be okay to fight Alvarez at a catchweigt if Mayweather had gotten a gift decision against Oscar or Cotto? And it would be okay if Mayweather had only one fight at 154 instead of two. Would it also be okay if Alvarez has spent five years in prison like Hopkins did? Or would it also be okay if Alvarez had KO'd Cotto (Mayweather's toughest opponent) the way Hopkins KO'd Oscar's toughest opponent, Felix Trinidad?

All I get from that is that Mayweather will seemingly only fight at 154 if the opponent is old, slow and past their prime

You make some valid points. However, you can't strip someone of a championship that does not exist. Floyd is the WBA superchampion which is nothing more than a fake title designed to collect additional sanctioning fees. What do you think the WBA was going to do, strip him of his super championship and order a fight between Alvarez and some unknown contender for the super championship belt while Alvarez keeps the regular championship belt.

The hater that I was responding to is the one who made an issue out of the idea that Floyd's two fights at 154 put him in a different category than ODLH and his one fight a 160 six months before the Hopkins fight.

You apparently chose to ignore his asinine comment because that would mean that you couldn't respond to my comment with an equally asinine comment of your own. Typical hater/clown behavior.
