    Has this ever Happened Before?

A 2x division champ asking another champ in the same division to fight below their division that they are champion in?

How can floyd, a 2x world champion at 154lbs ask a fellow 154lb champion to fight at 152lbs?

    Has this ever happened before?

nope. biggest disgrace in boxing history. pac was champ at 140 and cotto champ at 147 when they fought. floyd and canelo are champs in the same division! This is completely different, and much worse. also completely hypocritical on floyd's part, but what else is new?

Oscar De La Hoya was the WBO middleweight champion and he forced Bernard Hopkins who owned the WBA, IBF and WBC middleweight belts to fight at 158lbs for all the belts. The exact same scenario that is happening on September 14th.

not exactly. oscar only had that felix sturm fight which he lost but got a gift decision. not the same as floyd who is a 2x 154lb champion. oscar only had that one fight then he went on to fight bernard.

so no its not the same exact thing.

yea but Floyd has already fought at JMW twice...in his 3rd fight at that weight class he's asking for a catchweight?

DLH had fought once at MW before asking Hopkins to fight at 158

exactly...you can't be campaigning in your 3rd appearance at that weight and all of a sudden ask for a catchweight

especially after bragging about how it was ok for Cotto to be at 154 because he wanted his opponent at a weight where they were 'comfortable' at

how so? floyd is a 2x champion at 154 while oscar was only a 1x 160lb champ when he asked for a catch weight. that is a false equivalency.

This is a nice twist on Larry's, "Has anyone ever" threads slurping Mayweather.

You asked for a division champ asking another division champ to fight at a catch weight. I gave you the answer (One the involved the exact same 2lb drop).
