If this is a cherry-pick - a fight between two prime, elite fighters; both of whom were rated as being the very best in their division, and a fight that was among the most anticipated in recent memory - then there is no such thing as an even, fair matchup in boxing.

You are right. Regardless Kessler and his promotor jumped at the chance to fight Ward first as he was unproven and easily agreed to do it in Oakland thinking it was going to be easy work. If I recall correctly at that time Kessler was on a winning tear and was the odds on favorite to win the SuperSix let alone beat Ward.
