ortiz and guerrero for Berto hahaha! Pretty much anything involving berto, hopefulyl soto-karass backfires too! Berto was in line for Mayweather both times he got exposed, embarassed, beat up and those guys got his shot!

Berto vs Ortiz backfired big time. Al Haymon thought Berto would walk right through the weak minded Ortiz in his first fight at 147 and set up a comeback fight for Floyd in September.
Instead Ortiz looked like a beast at the weight and didn't cave when the going got tough.
Backfired spectacularly as Ortiz got the Mayweather fight instead of Berto and he hasn't been the same sense.

lol a lot of people here don't know the term cherry picking. As other have mentioned PAC-DE LA HOYA is one of the best cherry picks that backfired.

Oscar ducked a prime margarito, picked on a LW in pacquiao who only had 1 fight at that weight. Oscar thought it would be an easy win and easy money as pac was already BIG name in boxing at that time just not mainstream.

Not only did he lose but he got the absolute **** beat out of him, worst beating in his career, quit and got retired. LOL It cant get any better than that.
