People need to start embracing the fact that Floyd's career is coming to a end, and the build up to guys like Canelo, Martinez, or Pacquiao start by sewing up the 147 division.
It's not hating bro, it's people's opinions. You think he's a good opponent, alot of people don't wanna see that fight.
He quit vs Bradley like a b1tch in a stinker. He lost to Kotelnik in a so so boring fight. He lost to Matthysse. He fought tough but clearly lost. He beat up Maidana, give him that. But then he goes and literally put a quarter of the crowd to sleep in Brooklyn when he fought Bailey. I honestly would perfer Canelo. That fight I would pay to see. I'm not paying to watch an ATG fight devon Alexander.

They showed all his background **** in the Bradley build-up and no one gave a *** about that fight. HBO tried to hype it like it was the next Hagler-Hearns and it fell flat on its arse.

The difference is Mayweather's name wasn't there to attract the common man.

They did a short 5 minute segment for the fight, not an extensive look that a fight with Floyd will bring. HBO did the same with Oritz's background, but the general public didn't know it until the Floyd fight.

Explain why each of the fighters your listing would be more marketable than Alexander right now. Other words, what do they bring to the table? What are their selling points?

Well if we are looking at this year's Floyd fight the only one on that list that is even possible is Canelo. So if Floyd doesn't fight Canelo Devon is the best bet.

Nevermind the fact that 3 of those guys are not welter weights.

4 out of the 5 you listed aren't even ranked at 147.

Pacquiao is tied to Top Rank until the end of 2014, and would need to look impressive in every fight until then, and leave Top Rank...

              To even be considered.

Martinez owes HBO 2 more fights, and is on the shelf til next year, plus HBO refuses to work with GBP.

Camelo hasn't even hosted his own PPV, and is not a 147 fighter.

As of Right now, none are viable options at 147.

Doesn't matter if they aren't welterweights. They aren't going to turn down a fight with Floyd Mayweather over weight.

I go back to my first point though, whether they are welter weights or not doesn't matter because it is almost certain they won't be available to fight in September.

I also think Floyd would/should get more heat for fighting another blown up 140lber than he would fighting Devon.

                      Danny Garcia?

Do you really want to see another slow, flat footed, opponent in the ring with Mayweather?

When will you guys learn? He's making millions of dollars fighting these flat footed so called "exciting" fighters that the fans love and eat up their back stories and the promotional BS. They can't adjust in the ring, they can't cut off the ring and when Plan A fails, they don't know what the hell to do.

You have to be able to match Floyd's speed and athleticism at a minimum.

Out of the available options for September.... Canelo, Alexander, Trout, Lara or GTFOH.
