He entered the ring at that weight because there is no control after a fighter makes the weigh-in so that gives a fighter complete and free reign. Doing it the way I suggested would keep reigns on Canelo freely gaining whatever he wants. Personally, I don't think it is fair for Canelo to come in at 171 unless the opponent comes in somewhere near that or at least not further apart so thats why I suggest 164 cutoff.

Nope they did away with same day weighin in the 80ies, it was deemed medically unsafe. The current rule is, you make 154 the day before, you're a SWW. Too small? Stay out of the weightclass, or at least don't be boasting you're #1 in the division

To those saying Canelo has no leverage...how about we do this..get every star in boxing to hold a fan day..at the end of the day let's see who has more people show up..tell you this much it won't be mayweather. Pacs last three fights were Marquez, Bradley, and Marquez again. And for whatever its worth he tried to fight one or the other again before settling for Rios. Just sayin.
