That wouldn't be cool, that would be disappointing.
    40&47 are 2 separate divisions.

Why would you be disappointed? There are plenty of guys at 54 and above for Canelo to fight. I just don't get why people are acting as if he's a career defining opponent for Mayweather. The only reason that the fight is even interesting is because of his size, power, and age advantage. Skill for skill, everyone knows that he isn't seeing Mayweather.

Exactly, I'm a Floyd fan but I love boxing more.

      Both divisions are poor.

I'd be disappointed because it's a fight I want to see and there's absolutely no reason for it not to happen. Same promoter, lucrative opponent, division where Floyd fought twice, good style matchup for Floyd, it's a logical fight anyway you look at it.

Of course it's not a career defining fight, who said that? It's a good fight that I think should happen. Are you cool with Floyd fighting anybody he wants? Don't you wanna see competitive matchups?

All I know is I'm not buying another ppv of Floyd's unless its him against canelo, PAC man Martinez somebody thats a serious threat and if ure fine with paying 70 dollars to see him against Alexander or khan that's you. Sugar ray Leonard fought Duran, hagler and hearns. He didn't shy away from the biggest fight in his career like floyd did manny. That's why he gets hated on.
I don't have to justify anything, I'm just expressing my thoughts. Depending on who you choose to believe, around a million people paid $70 to see Mayweather fight Guerrero, so that kind of proves that nobody wanted to see the fight claim to be false. You can choose to do whatever you like, but your hate is corny. It's 2013 not 1983, it's a completely different era(SRL caught some of the same criticisms for by the way. Leonard caught flack from some people for everything from supposedly ducking Pryor, stalling Hagler out until he had lost a little bit, making Hearns wait too long for a rematch, avoiding Cuevas, ect). Let the hate go and just appreciate.

Funny how you talk about not wanting to see Mayweather fight unless it's against a serious threat then mention Pacquiao as if he's a serious threat. Pacquiao would've been a clear underdog against Mayweather before he Marquez put him to sleep. He'd ben an even bigger underdog now. You even metioning him as a serious threat let's me know that you're a Pacquiao fan. You only prop up Canelo and Martinez because they have clear sized advantages.

There could be plenty of reasons for the fight not to happen. Money issues aside, Mayweather simply may not feel as if the risk is worth the reward. I understand that you personally want to see it(caught up in the hype, Canelo just got his 1st good win), but you should concede that that's a legit position. If I were an advisor to Mayweather, I wouldn't suggest taking the fight unless it was clearly more lucrative than any other fight that he could make. Mayweather clearly isn't at his best at 54 because he's tiny at 54, Canelo is huge at 54, and Mayweather is 36 while Canelo is 22. At this point, I'm cool with Mayweather fighting whoever he wants because he has a track record of picking guys who are legit opponents. He's only really had 1 "competitive" fight in his career, so while I hope that every fight is competitive I'm realistic when it comes to Mayweather. If he were to fight Canelo in September I wouldn't count on that fight being that "competitive". I see Mayweather giving the kid a boxing lesson en route to yet another "boring" decision.

Hence he should take a much less competitive, much less marketable fight

            • I don't care if he fight middleweights I just don't want to see him fight more lighter fighters. I don't expect him to fight Canelo or a middleweight if natural welterweights are too risky.

Why don't you wait until he names his next opponent before you start crying, pouting like a baby?

Yeah ok. You just seemed so eager to give him the fantasy win, but no interest in the real thing. Risk/reward, dues paid, all that.

actually I'm a Marquez fan and always been neutral between floyd and pacman. the manny p that beat cotto and hatton would of been a 50-50 fight for floyd I'm not taking away from Floyd's skills just saying his opponent selection for the most part sucks. Yes he looked amazing last Saturday but once again he fought Robert Guerrero. Beating Robert Guerrero doesn't make u great. I do think floyd would beat canelo and Martinez. But the hate is well deserved cause the fights the majority of us fight freeks wanna see floyd won't give them to us.that why a guy like abner mares is praised because he's willing to fight anybody he'll move up a division down a division he wants to give the fans exciting fights.

Wow. While I believe that Mayweather would win the fight, I do have some interest in seeing it. Just not enough to start hating on Mayweather if he chooses not to pursue it. On the other hand, people like you are going to hate regardless. I see why Mayweather couldn't care less about what you think.
