    • Floyd does not have to fight at 160. But he most definitely should face the best at 154. The fact is he is a 2 time jr middleweight champion and the biggest challenges are there along with the biggest money fight.

Fans of Floyd Mayweather will cite these numbers as signs of his superiority in the ring and his significance to the sport’s business: 44 wins and zero losses; world titles in five divisions and lineal championships in three weight classes; victories over 18 men who held world titles at the time or had once been titleholders or would later go on to win belts of their own; a minimum payday of $32 million for his last appearance; pay-per-view buy rates coming in at more than 1 million per broadcast; ticket sales that near and often surpass $10 million for a single night.

Those who are not necessarily fans of the fighter but follow him because of his skills and his status will acknowledge all of the above, yet expect even more.

They will point to the odds that showed Mayweather as the clear favorite to vanquish his most recent opponent, Robert Guerrero. They will look at the rankings in the welterweight and junior welterweight divisions, at the potential challengers he could face, and they will write these men off as being unlikely or unable to beat the best boxer in the sport. • I'm sure the Canelo fight will happen, but at this point it will do nothing for his legacy. It'll all depend on what type of fighter Canelo will end up being. They're still in negotiations, but people are jumping to conclusions. He can literally say, "Ok i will forfeit my belt" and the next day say, "I'll challenge Canelo for his 154 lb belt" and it will be done. Let the negotiations pan out and see what happens from there.

ya i can agree with that. i just think people forget just how small he is he is not like most these fighters that are fighting 25 pounds under there walk around weight. he would be fighting at 140 if he was like the rest. it does suck there really is no one great at 147 and same with 154 really alot of it aint his fault

            • Mayweather ducked Margarito.
He has ducked Pacquiao. He fought Marquez, which was a non-fight, because Marquez's counter-punching style had no chance. Mayweather knew that; but he is deathly afraid of Pacquiao who's a buzz-saw and much more difficult to control.
              He also won't fight Martinez.

yet he agreed to everything manny wanted in 09 and the fight only fell through because manny wouldn't do testing. maybe he isn't as scared as you want him to be.

Dude, you need to wake up. No one is afraid of Pac. Did you see his last fight? He got put to sleep. So wake up and wake up Pac while you are at it.

                  • Mayweather has nothing to prove

Didn't Mayweather start fighting at 126lbs.? He's fought in six divisions, he already went up to 154 and 160 is too much, sure all the fans would like to see him be in a more competitive boxing match, including myself, but in the end he's too good for anybody and everybody, at the end of the day health matters more than anything, especially more than boxing fans...........I would love to see him fight Pacquiao tho
