I'll say it... Guillermo Rigondeaux is probaby the most skilled boxer of all time.

Rigo put on one of the most jaw dropping performances against elite competition I have ever personally witnessed. He was completely in control of Donaire almost throughout. NOBODY expected that. There was nothing in the boxing continuum to explain what happened last night. Such a shame we have all these morons out there trying to rain on the parade of true boxing observers. It was an amazing experience to see what Rigo did. I'm honored I had the chance to see it on live broadcast.

Try to remember that a varied offense attack is the most dominant attribute in boxing. Rigo is not limited there but refuses to step it up in that phase of his overall performance. I do believe he's protecting what he feels is a weakness and thats to his credit but that doesn't give him the credentials for being
all time best" whatever you (OP) said!!! Honestly the boxing fans that fall off & on the boxing truck here is unbelieveable at times. He is a very skilled fighter and you could have and should have known that prior to the fight. His question is can HE sustain an offense that the sporting/boxing public will accept as exciting!!! If he doesn't he won't be a draw. Theres nothing new about that!! He's flawed!! Ray

not sure if boxing is for you, go watch some marathon running. I haven't seen anyone run as much as Rigo did last night since Hopkins fought that French dude. Sure, he has excellent speed (which is emphasized because he never strikes first), sidestepping and outpointing skills, but he ain't a fighter.
        Mayweather dances; Rigo literally runs.

Max is right. These fights are always dividing opinions - some will love the technical aspects and some just want to see fighters knock each other senseless. I liked the fight and I'm a fan of "technical boxing". Roy said it best when he said "it's been a long time since I was nervous before a fight". The tension was so thick and anything could have happened.
From a technical perspective, in some moments it reminded me of the Mayweather vs Baldomir fight which the majority hate - I liked it very much.

Rigo landed the more eye catching and significant punches, no doubt. And while he was neutralising Donaire's offense and making him miss he obviously forgot to create any offense himself. That was my only gripe with Rigo's performance. Landing single digits in almost every round isn't "fight of the decade" material to me.

Still a good and important win for Rigo.

Oh i very much doubt this.

A thought that sprung to my mind though is that Rigo could be the most skilled fighter currently active. He wouldn't be number 1 pound for pound as he will have to beat more good fighters for that, but from what we saw last night how he absolutely clowned Donaire i think he is skill wise up there.

He may be just as good as Ward, Martinez and Floyd. He just needs to prove it.

I'm definitely a fan. Such sick defense and oh my god at that foot and handspeed.

Is it out of the question Bob Arum would let him fight Mikey Garcia?

I wish he could go to GBP and fight Mares, but that's probably unrealistic.

I'll say this.. for such an "uneventful" fight i was mesmerized by this Cuban the entire time. Kind of how i sometimes react to a Floyd fight.

He was certainly in control 100% of the time.

                Literally, 100% of the time.

Ok for Rigo to get pressured or forced on the inside somebody has to stalk him with a high guard and not throwing much cause if they throw he can hit them with all kinds of sharp shots. And if they lunge on the inside like donaire with wide hooks, he spins them. The beauty of the supposed "lack" of inside game by Rigo is that it's hard to force him there. Mares has the courage and possibly the chin, but if Rigo is on his game like he usually is, he will hurt Mares with shots badly. Mares is no big guy like Nonito either.

Rigo is not just skewed towards movement. He can stand there and make you miss. His head movement is superb, as is his footwork, and his angles.
Bro. Floyd fans feel threatened by Rigo. They'll learn soon enough.

He's an arguable HOF'er but like I said, it's not a certainty he will be inducted.
