I knew threads like this were going to be made making this win much much much more than what it really is.

History of the sport? Pre-mature.
He's beat Nonito Donaire which is an exceptional win but Nonito Donaire is an arguable HOF'er. You're acting like it's the greatest win of all time or something.

Rigondeaux is one of the most skilled boxers, but The Most Skilled Ever?
His athleticism (talent) is at the point where he is one of the most talented fighters in boxing. The talent advantages he has muddles the line between his talent and skills.
Bernard Hopkins has lost hand speed, foot speed, reflex quickness, stamina, etc. but at 48, he's still able to win against top opposition, regardless of the talent advantages they may have... because of skill.
As soon as RJ Jr aged, we found out what his weaknesses were (not talking about his chin either... more so his lack of inside defense and adjustment ability) because in his prime he was so good at fighting on the outside and avoiding fighting on the inside that he could mask it. Rigo is a great fighter, he has few weaknesses, but we haven't even seen how good his inside fighting ability is either (and he's probably not an elite fighter on the inside)...
I don't even have to go past the last 20 years to bring up a couple of names that are more skilled than Rigondeaux (B-Hop, Whitaker, and Mayweather).

Perhaps people would like to answer these questions since they keep being ignored:
1) Why has the most skilled fighter of all time who "punches like a bazooka" failed to knock out four out of his 12 opponents?
2) Why has the most skilled fighter of all time already been taken to a split decision?
3) Why has the most skilled fighter of all time been on his ass twice in his first 12 fights in the low weight divisions when Mayweather has been down once in his career, despite being a lesser skilled fighter than Donaire?
4) Why does the most skilled fighter of all time have a lower connect percentage and a higher percentage landed against him than Mayweather despite fighting worse opposition on average even though his output is lower?
I don't like to take away from great achievements but someone has to question the **** people put out on here.

Still that was TEN YEARS ago and over 3 rounds in an amateur system, Pro boxing is a different game. Rigo has shown he can beat the best pro in his division already but Mares brings a different set of problems and would try to rough him up

I would not like him at 126. Guys like Mikey are super big at 126. Regardless of what Donaire said Rigo's power gained his respect early on, will his punches have the same effect on a guy like Mikey? Probably not. And Salido has been trying to get out of 126 for a while now. So who else is there at 126? A rematch with Donaire? I'd take the 3 fighters I listed over a rematch with Donaire.
Rigo can become undisputed at 122 and retire. Its very doable. Romero has the IBF and then Terrazas/Mijares is doable fight too. Sadly those fights are downgrades from Donaire but Donaire IS a P4P fighter.

If not, he'll have to clean out 122, which he will.
Yeah, that's why I said the Salido that fought Juanma. He's slipping now and outgrowing 130.
