Holyfield in his prime was fast, mobile, threw lots of punches and brought a lot of pressure as well as combinations, bit of brawling, he was a pretty versatile fighter. I can see him beating Wlad as long as he gets inside reguarly and lands punches.
Real Deal in his prime would have stopped Lewis, period.
He came close in their first bout, but did not capitalize, and
precisely because he'd lost both a step and a certain kind of
hunger --the same religious smile-no-matter-what bullshit
as has castrated other boxing phenoms, even very recently.
Klitschko looks good in this era of less-remarkable heavies,
but come on...
LOL....... Just stop it, Holyfield would never beat prime Lewis and to say that he would stop him is absurd, Holyfield wasn't a big puncher at all infact i would say he was below average for a HW.
Many boxing experts rate Evander among the top 10 HWs of all time. We saw him struggling against taller HWs like Bowe and Lewis. How do you think he would fare against Wladimir (in Holyfield's prime)?
Steve Farhood has him 8th and BBC sport has him 10th. Most historians don't rate a fighter till his career is over. Tough to say how his status will change in the near future. In 2005 the IBRO rated him 14th.
People here saying Evander would get on the inside and rough Wlad up... That's exactly what would not happen.
Prime Tyson would be real trouble for Wlad, I agree on that, but Holyfield, no. Wlad would jab him down and KO him, like Bowe did in their third fight. Wlad wouldn't brawl with him, but put him to sleep, classic steelhammer style.

Holyfield fought Bowe close 2 out of 3 fights. The difference was Bowes ability to fight on the inside and land the uppercut. Wlad doesn't have those intangibles. That said, Wlad has a better jab and this would be a tough fight for both. You simply can't compare it because Bowe and Lewis were roughly the same size as Wlad, there are many other things to look at.

I know this of course. The point is Holyfield struggled against the bigger opponents, and it's no surprise either. Bowe-Wladimir is another fight I would really have liked to see, btw.
