I honestly thought that Rios ran out of gas. He wasn't pressuring in the last rounds the way we have seen him. Now I understand that Alvarado was doing a great job in moving and countering but watching the fight again, you could see Rios was gassed.
Why no Critism for Alavardo running the last few rounds

Why should he be criticised? If fighters were meant so stand still they would fight in a smaller ring wearing weighted shoes. Anyway I'm a firm believer that if a fighter is keeping distance the blame should fall on the fighter who was unable to cut the ring off.
You look at Amir Khan for example. He tried running against Pederson and the later cut the ring off on multiple occasions. A better example ( because it doesn't involve a drug cheat) is Danny Garcia against Khan. When Khan tried fighting on the backfoot he hounded his ass down.
If you're going to blame someone blame Rios for his inability to avoid getting outboxed.Comment

You would think Rios learned from the Abril fight but that just goes to show how limited and bummy he is.

He was hit with some brutal body blows which I'm sure didn't help.Comment

Yea I'm not taking credit away from Alvarado but something is wrong with Rios at 140. He is talked about being the smaller man but he has such trouble making 140, yet he doesn't look big enough for 147.
I don't know, it seemed to me like he slowed down a lot late int hat fight. He wasn't throwing punches, wasn't moving fast, he was just plodding.Comment

Do fans actually like boxers to not fight smart? They only get respect when they stand there and fight ******. The entire point in boxing is to hit and not get hit. Alvarado did that. He outworked Rios for almost the entire second half of the fight. He saw Rios was limited to what he could do and he capitalized on it. What's wrong with that?!? Props to both men for putting on a helluva entertaining fight.Comment

Isn't that what Rios does for 12 rounds?Originally posted by Cuauhtémoc1520Quote:

Sure, I'll give you that, but it goes back to him fighting a smart fight. He saw Rios was gassed and wasn't putting on much pressure so why not? Compubox says he threw more punches in the two last rounds anyway.Comment
