Big difference. Hoya only intended to last or finish the round. Alvarado's was strategic with intention of coming back to finish Rios. (I was rooting for Rios in that rematch, btw.)

In the last six rounds Alvarado, supposedly when he was running, threw more, landed more, landed at a higher % and landed more power shots in each round except one I believe which was even.

This is sad stuff from the Rios fans.

          Where's the pride?

well, boxing is the art of hitting and not getting hit, Alvarado wised up and finally started to box... which he is better at than Rios.

                alvardo was seriously hurt
and it took skill to stay away
while most think dlh just plain ran while he was ahead
                myself not included

Alvarado did what he had to to win.

                    I can agree.

but he still ran, and plenty of people agree, and thought he lost the ladder rounds

Often repeated, but really it's just about beating your opponent whether you get hit or not.
