He pressures a lot more usually, he ran out of gas in the end. Looked very lethargic and slow.

I agree, I'm not blaming Alvarado he fought smart but he did run a bit. Hey, lesson learned and Rios needs to be in much better shape next time around.

Rios' punches started losing their steam around the 6th round. I remember pointing it out in the RBR thread. They werent affecting Alvarado as much and he (Alvarado) was looking more comfortable as the rounds went out.

As far as the running goes, why would he risk making a mistake knowing he had already won. If he was gonna get robbed he was gonna get robbed regardless. Whether he ran or brawled.

I Think it was a bit of that, I also noticed that early in the fight, Rios was doing a great job of cutting off the ring, in the later rounds he started following Alvarado around. That could be all related to the fatigue you mentioned.

I take nothing away from Alvarado though. He did not run like people in here say. He gave angles and kept Rios from planting his feet down quite a bit.

He ran out of gas because Mile high was killing his body from round one.

He deserves criticism? For what? Showing he had more than one dimension, because Rios failed to adjust

Man I loved the 12th round ending sequence. Alvarado was boxing Rios' ears off. Why stand in there like a moron getting bashed in the head just because Rios is one-dimensional?

Because Team Rios and his fanbase are using that as an excuse for losing the fight. He was exposed yet again as being one dimensional and they can't simply accept that as it being a reason for him losing.

Let's set things straight here. There are those who run and run to survive the entire fight. When the fight is over, you'll see a smile on their faces and think to themselves, "I survive". Haye against Klitschko comes to mind at this point. Trout against Cotto, imho. You'll see fake agression and aimless countering to ward off the rampaging opponent. Alvarado is not one of them. The guy is conditioned to win. He just fell short on his first fight with Rios.

Alvarado was borderline running the last 5 rds. Everytime I felt like I wanted to give him a "Stalling Point" (j/p fellas) he came with some good offense
