as for chavez, he was basically the no. 1/2 MW after destroying lee and going into the martinez fight. there were a lot of people expecting a chavez win in that one. martinez clearly suffered injuries in that fight. you honestly want him to go straight into a golovkin bout after coming off surgery? i bet if it was the other way, you would be defending golovkin taking a murray fight after surgery.
at 154, didn't vernon forrest get stripped for not wanting to fight martinez? so besides williams, he didn't have any luck at 154. what did he do then? yeah, i think williams was an avoided fighter as well. he got lucky with that williams opportunity. the only guy that can give golovkin a similar opportunity like williams gave martinez is chavez. martinez is already fighting murray this month and won't be fighting again until the end of the year.
like i said, it's really up to k2 and hbo to put money on the table to get these other fighters (pirog, macklin, rubio, barker, and geale) to consider taking a fight with golovkin.

where did macklin say he passed on the chavez fight? i haven't seen any reports on that. i'm also not sure chavez is fighting above 160. i'm pretty sure his father and roach said they're staying at MW. i don't remember how long ago the article i read was posted, but i remember reading macklin, barker, vera and some guy named lorenzo were in the running for chavez. nothing has been reported about declines or signed fights when looking it up right now. all i can say is nothing is signed yet (for any MW fights), so golovkin and his people still have the opportunity of getting someone like barker, geale, vera, macklin, or rubio in june. they just need to make a good offer. all these men are prizefighters. that's what they fight for, money.

You know Macklin is very reluctant to take the fight, it's been like that for a while, there's direct quotes from the guy. You heard Hearn about putting Barker in with GGG. Geale, lets hope so. I think he's as gutsy as these MW contenders get, but doubt Gary Shaw will let it happen. Plus every contender is hoping for that title shot, Macklin, Barker both have promoters working overtime to book Geale. Rubio has already passed once, and seem to be positioned for WBO or vacant (interim?) WBC shot. So that leaves Vera, who's really not a step up, as we saw Friday.

i think its the way he should go. i mean whats his other options rite now? if u say everyone is ducking u at your weight, its time to take some risks. i know its very risky, but the other option is to waste the rest of your career waiting for fights that may not come. so why not take the risk and make ppl notice u. its a high risk high reward fight. ward is naturally bigger, but golovkin shold still have the power advantage and both men have amazing pedigrees. i think its an excellent fight.

macklin might be reluctant to take the golovkin fight, but like i said before, these men fight for money. i truly believe golovkin's last two opponents took the fight because it was fair pay. rosado was promised that his ranking at 154 would not be affected by the result of the golovkin fight (wba i think), so he saw the opportunity of exposure on hbo and the payday that came with it. from round 1, it was clear that rosado didn't come to win. ishida might have a couple screws loose and thought the kirkland upset could happen again, but i'm pretty sure he liked the money that came with the fight as well.
i don't know much about rubio's thought process or way of thinking, but i don't think the wbc will grant him the martinez fight. best he can do is rematch chavez to earn that fight, which he won't because i think chavez beats him again. he needs to try his luck with quillin and that wbo title imo. but if k2 and hbo can put some decent money in front of him, i don't see why he can't consider it. golovkin's gotten more popular since the rosado fight. it's more exposure and attention imo. someone like barker or macklin can be influenced by that, and a large check.

He only had his 1st of 2 USA fights last Sept. It will take him a little time to turn himself into a the type of money fight that the top fighters will not be able to pass on...but it's coming and at 30 yrs old it will happen soon...but probably not before 2014.

Martinez and Chavez Jr and Quillian and Pirog fans would love that I am sure...but HELL NO! I think GGG can clean out that Division, if it takes him just fighting until he become their Mandatory's then hopefully those Belt Organization will order those match ups so those fighters can either fight him or give up those Titles then that is what he should do

They are ducking because they are being "ALLOWED TO DO SO"!

Going to Supermiddleweight and beating one sure would help to lure Middleweights into the ring with him and alleviate their fears.
