Should Pulev keep sitting around?

Sorry to sound so cynical but perhaps it is time to talk high-politics, the longevity/plans of the K brothers and money....
Pulev seems to be one of those ranked, fancied fighters who is currently in a hellish heavyweight 'holding pattern' and that means waiting to see whether Wlad and Vitali are going to bow-out with a career defining mega-fight, just retire or mark-time for yet another year by facing punch-fodder guys like Pianeta/Charr and Helenius.
Povetkin, Haye, Fury and Pulev are constantly circling the same main runway in my opinion.
They can either be bold, chance their arms and fight one of the K brothers (for a knockdown fee and with thousands of contactual conditions attached) or wait for the Ukrainians to leave the room or bide their time by challenging the bloke who finally and completely unexpectedly downs a K brother.
Pulev looks like the kind of guy who should be chancing his arm and forcing a fight with Vitali or Wald; whatever the rubbish deal on the table.
But I am guessing his handlers are waiting for Vitali to retire and have an easy crack at the WBC belt. In the meantime, that means we don't get to see Pulev risk his record or ranking.Comment

You asked for a bet, Weltschmerz. And JAB5239 complied.
Are you going to accept it or were you not being serious?Comment

What kind of bet are you babbling about?Lol at an attempt to bait people. Read my initial post, I asked for opinions about whether he should remain inactive or pursue a fight. And learn to read, "no" is not a voting option.
AND.....you're still ducking that bet you wanted to put out there. Guess you don't have that much confidence in tomato can Pianeta as you liked to claim by insinuating he's a worthy opponent.

Every fighter should stay active, but as we know, the sanctioning bodies, promoters, managers, etc. so often prevent them from doing so. Just look at a guy like Denis Boytsov. Pulev wants to remain active without a doubt, but he's in a waiting position at the moment. And as clarified, he's not able to defend his EBU title.Last edited by Weltschmerz; 03-21-2013, 11:45 PM.Comment

Difference is he doesn't need the meaningless EBU title and has no contractual obligation to the IBF. David Haye is the WBA number one contender. Its ok if he waits it out until he gets his mandatory title shot, right?Every fighter should stay active, but as we know, the sanctioning bodies, promoters, managers, etc. so often prevent them from doing so. Not in my opinion. Haye isn't active at all, he needs to beat at least one top contender if he comes back. Pulev has beat Dimitrenko and Ustinov, and will likely fight Cunningham or Fury. If Haye returns this summer, he will have had 1 fight in 2 years (Chisora) before his comeback. Does that qualify for a title shot, when Wlad already beat him two years ago? No...Comment
