He has Pavlik (RING champ 160), Williams (#2 160), Dzinziruk, Macklin (#3 160), and Chavez (#3 160) right now. Pavlik only lost to Hopkins at 170 lbs....and Williams was a dangerous fighter for anyone. Dzinziruk was a highly ranked 154, and Macklin/Chavez were both highly ranked at 160 too. If he cleans out the division by beating those 4, which I DOUBT HE WILL, he'll be a dominant Middleweight from 2010-2015, a significant amount of time to dominate a division.
Martinez really is not in their league.

And both Hopkins and Hagler would pummel him and most likely stop him.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm saying if Sergio actually fought his best fights nearing the end of his career here, and wins them in spectacular fashion, people will consider him the dominant Middleweight of his era.

Back in the late 90's I don't remember hearing anyone compare Hopkins to Hagler, but after Hopkins' run in the early 00's, that's when I started hearing them.

At least we agree Sergio won't do that. That's why it's funny people expect Floyd to fight someone so much bigger in Sergio, but than Sergio is steady not fighting his own best fights right now.

People weren't even comparing him to Hagler then.

It's only in recent years Hopkins has been put in that company.

It's more of the longevity that he's had and his success at 175, I agree.

I;m saying simply that if Sergio actually does that, though he probably won't, people will consider him the most dominant Middleweight of his era and since Hopkins was dethroned by Taylor. I doubt they'll compare Sergio to Hopkins or Hagler, because he got started too late, but they'll consider him a dominant Middleweight.

But sadly enough, I see Sergio staying and fighting Murray/Chavez rematches in his next few fights.

Hopkins gets a really bad rep for "boring and dirty" fights but they didn't come til he was in his late thirties. Prime Hopkins was a skillful technician that bullied one of the toughest guys in boxing Glenn Johnson and stopped him in an exciting fight.

I give Hagler an edge in middleweight opponents but I rank Hopkins higher for longveity and his light heavyweight resume.

Head to Head I slightly favor Hopkins because if anybody could neutralize Hagler its Hopkins. Hagler would have his most inaccurate night ever.

I love how you guys barely give Hopkins credit for the Echols fight. A very, very dangerous puncher/boxer. He shut him out in the 1st fight, and TKO'd him in the 2nd fight.

Hopkins is a monster. So is Hagler, but Hopkins is the smarter monster.

Resumee wise it's a close call, Hagler has a better competition, Hopkins longevity.

H2H, it's tricky, stylistically it's a great match up, but boxing has changed.

If they were to fight, prime vs prime at MW, it all depends on what rules one applies.

If they were to fight a 15 rounder with a same day weigh in at 160, I'd definitely favour Hagler. I am not sure B-Hop would feel comfortable at such low weight.

While I see Hopkins highly favored in a 12 rounder with weigh in 24 hours prior to the bout.

Hopkins loses to talented athletes his own size.. Taylor, calsappy, Roy, Dawson... Notice Hopkins was bigger than Cloud and Pascal

That's a ridiculous claim. The only person that fits the description is Roy Jones I his prime. Prime Hopkins embarrasses everybody else mentioned nevertheless the old man version who boxing fans agree besides the Dawson fight which was still close, the other fights were all 50/50 could of gone either way. And that's Hopkins at 40.

Educate yourself. Your obviously a new fan going off other nieve fans myths about Hopkin. He's a great to watch a Toney and Roy the way he uses his speed and skills to pick people apart like they do. Hopkins in his prime with his prime work rate was a treat to watch.
