How do YOU look at it?

On the one hand, when comparing Hagler and Hopkins, Marvin was at the championship level for almost 8 years (1979-1987) while Bernard has been there for TWENTY (1993-2013)...but on the other hand, Bernard has had 62 fights in a 25 YEAR career while Marvin had 67 fights in just a fourteen year career...

most of haglers fights were club fights. That's how he built up his numbers. Plus he retired at 32. If he had hung around a few more years he would of had to fight guys like toney mcclellean and benn. He would have probably been beaten and quite soundly as he was already slipping.

To this day, I still think Hopkins would've beaten Hagler.

      So sue me.

Hopkins has the more impressive legacy because of his longevity, but people forget even those club fighters that Hagler fought would still beat up Pascal, Dawson, and many of those scrubs Hopkins fought at middleweight. The thing is Hagler and Hopkins both share similiarties like their biggest wins being blown up little guys who were not natural middleweights. Hagler beat former lightweight Duran, former welter hearns. Hopkins biggest wins he will even say are Trinidad and Oscar both former welters.

Prime for Prime Hagler would win though, his style is a nightmare for Hopkins, relentless pressure, hard body punches, no fear of getting hit and high workrate. Hopkins wouldn;t have enough pop to keep Hagler honest, Hagler didn't even back down from Hearns when he got split open with one of the hardest right hands hearns ever threw and he just came forward applying pressure.

Hearns didn't really help his own case, when he went in there gun's blazing.
