Why is Hopkins not suspected of PED's

Im sorry but he also fought Calzaghe on top of that, Pavlik, Pascal, Dawson, Cloud, Taylor and so on...that is not a bad list of opponents AT ALL. Well into his 40's he is fighting the TOP fighters in his weight class, how could you say all of those fighters weren't the top fighters. Sure Andre Ward is better than most, if not all potentially BUT Bhop lost to Dawson so that fight went out of the window. It can be made now though, since Bhop got a top win.I'm giving B hop the benefit of the doubt, is he questionable at his age sure, but I think he has cherry picked guys who make him look good. Teddy Atlas has said it best about Hopkins he is like an illusion at his age he can get away with fighting raw one dimensional low boxing IQ fighters and people will praise him. Pavlik, Pascal, Dawson, Cloud were all tailor made for Hopkins all these guys are either hesitant or mental midgets in the ring when they can't figure you out. If you notice B hop said no amount of money they could give him to fight Andre Ward lol, he knows Ward would figure him out, and he even decided not to fight that Russian guy who knocked out that slick boxer who beat Cloud.
If There were any Mexican fighters at 175 who had fearless aggression like Margarito or Rios, Hopkins age would show, Calzaghe made Hopkins look old cause of the pressure he applied this is why Pavliks people thought they could capitalize on him thinking he was on the decline but its not true it was a stylistic match up that is bad for Hopkins. You have to really smother him bad and out work Hopkins like Calzaghe did.
I would have loved to see Hopkins versus Kessler, Bute or Froch
If I where Bernard Hopkins I would have done the VADA year round testing to prove to everyone doubting him that he is in fact legit.
JMM on the other hand is obvious he is possibly juicing, dudes physique changes at his age are unreal, his ability to take punches and deliver knock downs to a guy who he never dropped in his life was highly suspect, plus he aligned himself with Memo a known ped chemist who moved to Mexico and continued to cheat in sports even after giving testimony.
Dude even changed his name lol thinking nobody would know its him.Comment

when they're boxing at 48, yes.
48 years old, man. that's two shy of fifty.
growth hormone and steroids allow your body to recover faster from training and injuries. there's no denying that they can extend an athletic career. how do you think guys are coming back from torn knees in 6 months in the NFL? it ain't because they're drinking milk.
steroids are going to be used by mainstream medicine to start to try and prolong the effects of aging. it's starting to happen already.
it's quite possible that our sport will be outed as being similarly dirty to baseball and cycling. i'm starting to suspect many of hte top boxers (my heroes, mind you,) are on the gas.Last edited by New England; 03-10-2013, 08:52 AM.Comment

hopkins will never fight ward. not only do they seem to share some sort of understanding on the matter, hopkins wouldn't have a prayer with a style like that at his age, and he knows it.
if there's a fighter ward resembles it is hopkins.Last edited by New England; 03-10-2013, 02:16 PM. Reason: wrote dawson. meant hopkins. run on sentence, too. batting the cycleComment

Hmm sounds like you're starting to accept the fact that the majority of athletes are on something nowadays. I remember when you were going nuts thinking if Mayweather one day came out dirty. Maybe Ill end up with the same mentality one day but as of now, anyone suspected of cheating... screw them.when they're boxing at 48, yes.

Didn't Hopkins go up to Ward last night and told him "There's no amount of money they could pay me to fight you"?Comment

he also told kelly pavlik he would beat on him with a baseball bat.
i'm ambivalent on him not following through with that one.Last edited by New England; 03-10-2013, 09:07 AM.Comment

BHop... One moment he will sound all nice and educated, like in last night's post fight interview. And the next he will say or act all barbaric.
You know what? Ive questioned Hopkins before amongst friends if he's dirty or not. But it's not fair to question everything people do just cause there's some cheats out there. Whether he cheats or not he still takes care of his body and I think he should be given the benefit of the doubt.Last edited by .:: JSFD26 ::.; 03-10-2013, 09:12 AM.Comment

I've been saying for a long time that no one is beyond su****ion. No one. I don't understand why some people, in this day and age, can't accept that a fighter just might be using some form of PEDs. That's not to say they are, but that they might be. I find it even more perplexing when those same people refuse to admit that a fighter who's doing things that are almost unheard of might be juicing. It's not an accusation, but refusing to acknowledge there's a possibility is a form of denial.when they're boxing at 48, yes.

The man is impressive, regardless of whether he's clean or not. PEDs don't magically lengthen your career into your late forties, or even into your late thirties, for that matter. That requires a combination of genetics, hard work, dedication, and luck. But PEDs help, and, as I said before, no one is beyond su****ion nowadays, especially a 48 year old athlete who is still competing at the highest levels.BHop...
