Americans dont know who canelo is. Main stream boxing fans dont know who he is, hell a lot of pure Mexicans that now live in america dont know his real name just "canelo". He is not saling PPVs. Being on a floyd event is the main reason he has had any exposure.

Doesn't mean he won't be the front runner in Sept if he can get past Trout.

Signing an agreement to fight someone else while you have another opponent in front of you is disrespectful especially in 2013.

        More than that it's ******.

Why do people refuse to understand this? If he beats Trout, he gets Mayweather. You don't need that in writing for it to be true. In fact, making it official just opens up all kinds of corrupt possibilities for the Alvarez-Trout fight.

If I was Canelo I would have done the same thing. As all boxing fans know, Floyd has a HISTORY of ducking/avoiding fighters that are threats. All he wanted to do was secure a fight with him in September so Floyd wouldn't even have an option to duck him. But it looks like Floyd turned it down.

If Canelo looks impressive against Trout I don't see Floyd ever fighting him.

You see how Cotto was able to bully Mayweather right?? He is not a beast at that weight... Say thing with Ortiz, but he was not as seasoned as Cotto! So Mayweather is a small dude I would give ANY current middle weight the edge over Mayweather. Macklin, Chavez jr, Kid Chocolate etc... Not because of skill, but that big size advantage.

Now HOW COME SERGIO DOESN'T CALL OUT WARD?? Your punk ass still didn't answer the question. 1.Is it because Ward is too big??

Or 2. Sergio is a puzzy and rather call out Welter weights?? Which one is it?? I thought so chump! I got you mad bruh?? Lol this is too easy
Martinez wants to fight at 154/160. Mayweather has a belt at 154. Martinez is far too small for 168.

It's a bad argument. Martinez fighting Mayweather at 154 is not comparable to Martinez fighting Ward at 168. Martinez has never fought at 168 before and obviously doesn't feel comfortable about moving up in weight. Mayweather on the other hand is a champion at 154. Martinez has fought there before, and obviously feels he can fight at that division.

Why can't people like you see this logical breakdown? Arguing Mayweather/Martinez is the same as Martinez/Ward is a bad argument. I'd agree if Mayweather wasn't ranked no.1 at 154

I don't think anybody can argue on who is the bigger talent, Canelo's only chance is to fight a bigger man's fight now that Floyd is declining, and by doing so add another name to his resumee. Let's not forget Floyd is 36, not 25.
Canelo should focus on fighting Trout and other legit 154lbs rather than fight another smaller guy, in my opinion.

While Floyd should stick to 147 when he can still use his boxing abilities to win.

It's curious how people bash on Broner's idea to go all the way up to 147 to fight Malignacci, on Floyd for not fighting Martinez, but nobody suggests that Canelo is young and big enough to go up and get Martinez's belt, fight Golovkin, Quillin or even Lara -if- he defeats Trout.

And don't mention defending a154 paper belt, please, by that logic Pac should have fought a legit 154lbs rather than JMM.

When the last time Martinez made 154?

Why doesnt dude fight at 154 to prove he can fight at that weight? you know what will happen right? he is going to get beat and people going to claim he got weight drained.

dude fought chavez who is bigger then ward but he cant fight ward? loool comical

At 147, no Manny or Bradley.

At 154, he didn't fight anyone except a shop worn Cotto.

The so called best fighter in the world as not cleaned out a division in over 10 years.

Mayweather, do yourself a favor and look at how Andre Ward cleans out a division. You not only beat the best guy, but you beat the 2,3 and even 4 best fighter in the division.

How many divisions Canelo cleaned out,how many divisions Pacquiao cleaned out?And last time i checked Ward ducked Anthony Dirrell, and never fought Andre Dirrel or Bute.
